Call for Transparency and Clarification on Financial Activities of APC National Convention Venue Sub-Committee
A coalition of concerned stakeholders and participants in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention is calling for urgent clarification regarding the financial management and post-convention obligations of the Venue Sub-Committee.
The committee was led by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State (Chairman), alongside other senior officials, including:
His Excellency, Dr. Aliyu Ahmed (Governor of Sokoto State) – Co-Chairman
His Excellency, Engr. David Umahi (Honourable Minister of Works) – Vice Chairman I
His Excellency, Sen. Simon Bako Lalong - Vice Chairman II
Dr. Usoro Akpabio (MD/CEO, South-South Development Commission) – Secretary
Given the high-level composition of the committee, stakeholders note that the issues raised warrant collective institutional clarification.
Key concerns include:
Questions surrounding funds reportedly mobilized from corporate entities in support of venue-related activities.
The absence of a detailed account or breakdown of funds raised and expended.
Reports from committee members regarding outstanding allowances and honorarium, beyond a communicated transportation provision of ₦250,000 for the inauguration meeting that was conducted during fasting.
Limited post-event communication with committee members on these matters.
In view of the above, stakeholders respectfully call on the leadership of the Venue Sub-Committee to provide:
1. A comprehensive and transparent financial report covering all funds sourced and utilized.
2. Clarification on the framework guiding engagements with private sector contributors.
3. Immediate steps to address outstanding entitlements of committee members.
4. Any internal review or reconciliation process necessary to ensure alignment with party standards.
As individuals entrusted with significant public and party responsibilities, a timely and coordinated response from the committee’s leadership will help provide clarity, reinforce confidence, and uphold accountability.
This call is made in the interest of transparency, fairness, and the integrity of party processes.
