Electricity Improves After Frvstrated Resident Drops Casket At EEDC Office Over Poor Electricity,

In a dramatic protest against poor electricity supply, an unidentified person placed a white casket containing a dead chicken at the entrance of the EEDC (formerly NEPA) office in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, around February 21, 2026.

The act was reportedly a symbolic "sacrifice" caused by ongoing complaints that local people pay their electricity bills but receive little or no power.

Humorously, the reporter noted that power suddenly improved afterward. The electricity company (still often called NEPA) is now supplying so much electricity to the area that people say it is "overwhelming"possibly because the workers got scared.

The incident highlights the ongoing frustration with unreliable power supply in Nigeria, where formal complaints often fail, but creative (or superstitious) protests sometimes get results at least temporarily.

No official response from EEDC has appeared yet.

YILLAH CALLS FOR CALM AMIDST VDM OUTBURST, CHARGES MUTFWANG TO BE MORE RESPONSIVE TO SECURITY OF LIVES AND PROPERTY

A philanthropist and International Business Mogul, Dennis Yillah, has pleaded for restraint amid tumultuous disenchantment trailing VDM's recent video in respect of the security situation in Plateau State.

While extending his condolences to the people and government of Plateau State for the recent breach of peace in the state culminating in the killing of over 100 people by marauding Fulani terrorists in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas of the State, Yillah said the least Governor Mutfwang needs at this grieving moment is unnecessary distractions and social media outrage, no matter how anybody feels about the governor's handling of the situation.

According to him, no right thinking leader would value cows over the lives of his people, but admonished that taking swift action for death of cattle when people are yet to bury their loved ones killed by Fulani is not unlikely to be misrepresented because of the momentary rage and anger in the people.

According to Yillah, Plateau is still mourning, hence the social media rantings by Plateau people for and against VDM's outburst is needless, safe for the governor's spokespersons who are duty-bound to make official statement to clarify government position.

He acknowledges VDM as a strong-willed activist who fearlessly takes on government and individuals that oppress the poor, but admonished that Very Dark Man ought to have considered the timing and mood of Plateau people before voicing out his displeasure.

While commending Governor Mutfwang for his matured approach to handling crisis situations in Plateau, his prompt visits to affected communities and investments in the security architecture, Yillah emphasized that such efforts must find expression in the safety of lives and property of Plateau people for it to achieve its purpose.

In 1993, a fisherman from Iquitos, Peru was captured in this unforgettable image — carrying a massive paiche, also known as arapaima or pirarucu.

One of the largest freshwater fish on Earth, this Amazonian giant can grow over 10 ft and weigh more than 400 lbs.
What makes it even more fascinating?

This fish breathes air. It must surface every 15–20 minutes to survive, and can hold its breath up to 40 minutes if threatened.

Bello Turji kills 11 farmers after Sallah visit in Sokoto

Notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, has reportedly killed 11 farmers in Lugu town, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, happened as Turji and his men were returning from a Sallah visit.

A resident of Isa, Basharu Altine Giyawa, confirmed the killings, stating that locals had been aware of Turji’s planned visit to the eastern part of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area since Saturday.

He said the community had alerted security agencies about the movement of the bandit leader but received no effective response.

“Yesterday, Turji and his men left Fakai, his village in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. They passed through several communities in Isa before attending their Sallah celebrations. On their way back, they brutally killed 11 farmers,” Giyawa said.

He blamed the attack on the failure of security operatives to act on intelligence provided by residents.

Confirming the incident, a local security official, Sani Abubakar, said security personnel had received reports of Turji’s movement but denied that he celebrated Sallah in any community under his jurisdiction.

“Yes, we got intelligence about the planned visit to the eastern part of Gatawa and took action. We deployed security measures in Sabon Birni to prevent his entry. This may have been why he directed his anger at innocent farmers in Isa,” he said.

Another account revealed that Turji had stopped in Tozai village, where he killed the leader of a local vigilante group before continuing his journey.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, said only the military could confirm the attack, as they were responsible for security operations in the area.

Efforts to get a response from the Nigerian Army were unsuccessful, as the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Hadarin Daji, Lt Col. Abdullahi, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
