House Petroleum Resources Committee Hosts Inaugural Downstream Week
Abuja, FCT | October 13, 2025- The House of Representatives, through its Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), is set to host the Inaugural Downstream Week- a multi-stakeholder engagement designed to drive sustainable reforms and innovations in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
As part of its strategic oversight mandate, the initiative seeks to deepen policy dialogue, enhance regulatory clarity, and boost investment confidence across the downstream value chain.

Date: Monday, October 13- Tuesday, October 14, 2025
🕗 Time: 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m. daily
📍 Venue: National Assembly Complex, Three Arms Zone, Abuja
With the theme “Celebrating Our Success, Confronting Our Challenges, and Finding Solutions for the Petroleum Downstream Sector,” the two-day forum will convene key policymakers, regulators, investors, and civil society actors to engage in constructive discourse on reform, innovation, and opportunities in the petroleum industry.
Organized in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the event will feature keynote sessions, technical papers, and high-level panel discussions.
Among the dignitaries expected are:
- Sen. Godswill Akpabio, GCON, President of the Senate
- Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, Speaker, House of Representatives
- Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State (Petroleum- Oil)
- Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State (Petroleum- Gas)
- Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria
- Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State
- Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON, Chairman, Dangote Group
and other prominent industry leaders and stakeholders.
Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere, described the event as a milestone in the legislature’s drive to strengthen oversight, promote collaboration, and stimulate inclusive policymaking.
“The Inaugural Downstream Week represents our collective resolve to generate actionable legislative outcomes that confront inefficiencies and enhance investor confidence in Nigeria’s petroleum industry,” he stated.
The House of Representatives remains steadfast in its commitment to deploying legislative tools that uphold institutional accountability, promote energy self-sufficiency, and drive sustainable economic transformation- in alignment with the 10th Assembly Legislative Agenda (2023–2027).
