MANGU NEEDS MORE THAN SECURITY OPERATIONS WE NEED TO REMOVE THE ILLEGAL ARMS FUELING THE VIOLENCE...

The recent operation by troops of the Nigerian Army under Sector 8, Operation ENDURING PEACE, in Mangu Local Government Area deserves commendation.

According to the Nigerian Army, troops acting on credible intelligence about a planned attack on Mwar Community, Chakfem Kingdom, recovered an AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated revolver rifle, two Dane guns and 15 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition during a raid on a suspected location.

THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER SECURITY REPORT.

It is a warning about the dangerous proliferation of illegal arms in our communities.

I commend the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and the HQ Nigerian Army for the renewed operational efforts we are beginning to see in Mangu. The people need this kind of decisive, intelligence-led security response.

However, from my observation as a digital journalist, media analyst, researcher and peace advocate, there is another issue that deserves serious attention: the proliferation of illegal weapons among civilians and criminal elements in conflict-affected communities.

If we genuinely want lasting peace in Mangu, we must address the weapons that continue to make violence so deadly.

When fi****ms remain in the hands of criminal elements, every disagreement can quickly become a deadly confrontation. Revenge becomes easier. Communities become more vulnerable. Innocent people pay the highest price.

Therefore, I respectfully appeal to the GOC, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to strengthen intelligence-led efforts to identify, recover and remove illegal arms from civilian hands across conflict-affected areas.

This must be done professionally, lawfully and without ethnic or religious discrimination.

The objective should not be to target a particular community. The objective should be simple:

▪️Recover illegal weapons.
▪️Disrupt crimin

BARKIN LADI FACES DEVASTATING EROSION, HOMES DESTROYED, LIVES LOST, COMMUNITIES CUT OFF...💔

A devastating erosion disaster has left parts of Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, facing a serious humanitarian and infrastructure crisis.

Several houses have reportedly been destroyed, lives have been lost, while some bridges linking communities have also been washed away by the force of the erosion.

The situation has left affected residents vulnerable and has disrupted movement and access between communities.

This is more than an environmental challenge. It is a humanitarian emergency that requires urgent attention from the Plateau State Government, relevant agencies, local authorities, and humanitarian organisations.

Residents need immediate assistance, while damaged roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure must be assessed and restored to prevent further loss of lives and property.

INNALILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHI RAJI’UN 💔

Reports reaching us indicate that more than 55 people may have lost their lives in a devastating incident involving a boat/canoe in Kwale-Kwale, Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The reported incident has reportedly thrown the community into deep mourning, with families and loved ones left devastated.

At this stage, the exact number of casualties and other details surrounding the incident should be treated with caution pending confirmation from the relevant authorities.

May Allah have mercy on those who lost their lives, forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus. May He also give their families and the entire community the strength and patience to bear this painful loss. 🤲🏽

May Allah protect our communities from such tragedies and keep our people safe.

Maryam ta samu kuɗi, tayi suna, kuma ta samu ɗaukaka, ba tare da shigar banza, ko kuma karkaɗa ƙugu a Tik-Tok ba, da mata zasu gane, ɗaukakar da suke nema ido a rufe, bata cikin saɓawa Allah, rayuwa mai kyau tana cikin bin umarnin Allah dakuma riƙo da Addini.

TUNATARWA: Ruwa yana wanke dauɗar jiki, Alkur'ani yana wanke dauɗar zuciya. "Zuciyarka ta fi jikinka buƙatar tsarki".

Allah ya ƙara mana irinsu Maryam a cikin al'umma, Allah kasa Alkur'ani Ya cecemu, Ameen.
