2027 Governorship Race: Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs Meets APC Leaders in Mangu, Reaffirms Support for President Tinubu

As part of his ongoing consultation with critical stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs, an aspirant for the position of Plateau State Governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, 16th October 2025, held a consultative meeting with the APC leadership and ward executives in Mangu Local Government Area.

The meeting, which was strategically segmented into the three zones of Mangu LGA, TIM, Gindiri, and Mangu Central was aimed at engaging grassroots party leaders on his political intentions and strengthening internal party unity.

The consultation commenced in the TIM axis, comprising Kerang, Ampang, Mangun, Chakfem, and Jipal. Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs, while addressing party executives across the zones, emphasized that the visit was primarily a consultative engagement with his home local government. He explained that the segmentation of the meetings was deliberate to ensure deeper interaction with ward executives, whom he described as the backbone of the party structure.

According to him, “Every politician belongs to a political party, and the ward EXCOs are the foundation of any political movement.” He further charged the executives to remain steadfast and loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC’s national leadership, which he described as “God-given.” Hon. Biggs also formally declared his intention to contest for the Plateau State governorship seat in 2027.

In his remarks, the APC Chairman of Mangu LGA, Hon. Abdullahi Garkuwa Ladan, who officially welcomed Hon. Biggs and his entourage across the three zones, commended his humility and consistency within the party. He described Hon. Biggs as a leader with the capacity and experience to govern Plateau State, expressing optimism that “by the grace of God, he will emerge victorious.”

Also speaking, Mr. Goro Hosea, the APC Chairman of Kerang Ward and Chairman of all APC chairmen in the TIM zone, lauded Hon. Biggs’s courage and outreach strategy, noting that his approach demonstrates genuine concern for grassroots inclusion.

Similarly, Alhaji Sirajo Bamaiyi, Chairman of other ward chairmen in Gindiri Zone, applauded Hon. Biggs for his unprecedented mobilization of party ward executives. “No one in the history of Pyem land has ever brought together all ward EXCOs like this. It shows his seriousness, and we will give him our full support come 2027,” he said.

In their separate goodwill messages, Mrs. Naomi Tanko, APC Women Leader for Mangu LGA, and Mrs. Racheal Michael, Women Leader of Chakfem Ward, expressed confidence in Hon. Biggs’s leadership qualities and pledged to mobilize massive support for his aspiration.

Other speakers who showered encomiums on the aspirant included Hon. Adamu Pofi, Councillor representing Mangu Ward 1; Mr. Pius Shehu, APC Chairman of Ampang Ward; Sunday Boyi, Chairman of Langai Ward; Alhaji Mamot Janaret; and other notable party stakeholders.

The consultative meetings across the three zones were well attended by party faithful and community leaders, reflecting growing enthusiasm and support for Hon. Sunday Garba Biggs’s governorship ambition.

PLASCHEMA Hosts Stakeholders Meeting to Discuss CBHI Baseline Survey and Framework Development

The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) today convened a stakeholders meeting at Sarau Event Centre in Jos, Plateau State, to discuss the baseline survey for Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI). The event brought together critical stakeholders from the health sector, including representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), and National Association of Nigerian Nurses, and Midwives (NANMN).

In his remarks, the Director-General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Solomon Kwande Dakwal, emphasized that the meeting's objective was to bring stakeholders together to discuss the baseline survey tool and develop a better framework for providing healthcare to the people of Plateau State. He expressed confidence that the questionnaire to be administered to communities would help develop a policy document guiding the implementation of Community-Based Insurance. Dr. Dakwal also appreciated His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for providing financial support for the project.

The Plateau State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nicholas Ba'amlong, commended PLASCHEMA for the initiative and emphasized the importance of the baseline survey in achieving tangible results. He noted that the tools to be used would help add value to healthcare initiatives in the state.

During the interactive session, Julfa Jude Nden, the Director of Planning, Research and statistics who championed the discussion, highlighted the significance of the baseline survey for facilities. Representatives from various professional bodies contributed ideas, providing valuable insights that would enhance the framework for CBHI implementation.

The meeting marked a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery in Plateau State. By engaging stakeholders and developing a robust framework for CBHI implementation, PLASCHEMA is poised to make a positive impact on the state's healthcare system.
