BIG NEWS, guys!
I know you think itās music-related, but noāhear me out.
But first, the backstory. (Long Read but I promise, itās worth it)
As a freelance virtual assistant, I quickly learned that delegating tasks wasnāt as easy as I thought. What was meant to save me time ended up being a huge frustrationādeadlines missed, lack of attention to detail, and honestly, results I just couldnāt work with. I found myself spending hours fixing things that should have been done right the first time.
Thatās when it clicked: The problem isnāt just about skills; itās about life skills.
Things we donāt always learn in school, like:
- Time management: How to make the most of your day
- Goal setting: How to break down big dreams into achievable steps
- Communication: How to express yourself clearly and effectively
- Stress management: How to stay calm when things heat up
- Financial management: How to manage money and plan for the future
- Working under pressure: How to perform when the pressure is on
- Attention to detail: How to catch the small things that make a big difference
I kept venting to my husband about this, and his response was always:
āWhat can you do to help?ā
And then I remembered something that really hit home: Iāve never actually applied for a job. The opportunities Iāve hadāteacher (from primary to adult education), analyst in a tin shed, salon staff and later owner, virtual assistant, sales girl, church admin, from part-time staff to General Manager at a company with branches across Nigeria within 2 yearsācame to me (mostly) by recommendation.
Because of the skills Iāve developed over the years and the continuous learning Iāve invested in (and of course, Godās favor), my name would come up in conversations.
My journey as a freelancerāmaintaining a 5-star review for yearsāwould be a whole book!
Well, I needed to see my Pastor and MentorāPastor Sarah Chingtokāfor an entirely different reason, but she went in this direction (I totally believe she was led by the Spirit) and gave me the most powerful instruction that sparked a vision for something bigger.
