OPEP troops disrupt gun-running syndicate recover arms, ammunition in Plateau

Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, in conjunction with the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have successfully dismantled a gun-running syndicate operating in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Media Information Officer of OPEP, Maj. Samson Nantip Zhakom, who confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, December 24th, said the operation was made possible through superior intelligence gathering by the troops who have promised to ensure that residents of the state enjoy a peaceful yuletide season.

Plateau Killings: 'Enough is enough; it will now be fire for fire'- BYM President vows

The National President of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, BYM, Barr. Solomon Dalyop Mwantiri has charged youths in crisis-prone communities, especially in the Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State, to rise up and defend their people by all means whenever Fulani bandits and terrorists launch attacks on them.

Mwantiri who gave the charge in a fiery speech during the mass burial of the 12 miners who were gruesomely murdered by gunmen at a mining site at Ratoso community in Fann District of the council on Friday, said since the federal and state governments as well as security agencies have failed to protect the people, it would be foolhardy for them to sit back and expect help and protection from any quarter.

The BYM President said since "terror begets terror", the only option is for the youths to match the terrorists' venom for venom.

'Please forgive us, we acted out of ignorance' - Plateau APC women who protested against Gov. Mutfwang confess

Some of the women who participated in a recent protest rejecting the defection of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, has confessed that they acted out of ignorance and were deceived by the organisers of the protest.

Some of the women who spoke to PlateauNewsWatch on the condition of anonymity, fearing victimization, said the State Women's Wing, led by Mrs. Elizabeth Yerse, capitalized on their ignorance and coerced them into participating in the protest, which they thought was in the best interest of the party.

Troops of OPEP arrest notorious gunrunner, recover arms, ammunition in Plateau

Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in conjunction with the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP), on Friday, December 19th, recorded another huge success after they raided the hideout of suspected criminal elements at Gwender Village in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, and arrested a notorious gunrunner while also recovering arms and ammunition.

In a statement on Saturday by the Media Information Officer of OPEP, Maj. Samson Nantip Zhakom, the operation was based on multiple intelligence-led and thorough investigations by the troops.

In the statement, Maj. Zhakom stated that the mop-up operation was in furtherance of sustained efforts to rid the Joint Operations Area of illicit arms and ammunition, and to ensure a hitch-free Yuletide celebration.

APC National Chairman Nentawe bags Plateau Man of the Year 2025 Award

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe,
has been officially announced as the Plateau Man of the Year 2025.

In a press release issued by Amb. Cletus Akhimien, the Team Lead of COA Media, the organizers of the prestigious annual Plateau Man of the Year Awards (PMYA), the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction got the nod after a strenuous and painstaking nomination process.

In the statement, Akhimien said the award recognises Prof. Yilwatda’s exceptional leadership, humanitarian service, and transformative contributions to the socio-economic development of Plateau State.

"Over the years, Prof. Yilwatda
has distinguished himself through people-focused initiatives that have positively impacted communities across the State," Akhimien said.

'My children are denied admissions into universities due to my stance on Christian genocide - Rev Dachomo

Outspoken Plateau State clergyman, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has cried out that due to his stance on Christian genocide in the state, his children are being denied admission into Nigerian universities even when they are qualified.

Rev. Dachomo who is Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for Barkin Ladi local government area of the state, raised an alarm over what he described as discrimination against his children who are being denied admission into schools due to his stance on Christian genocide in the state and other parts of Nigeria.

In a statement on Friday, the clergyman lamented that his children, who are qualified to be admitted into Nigerian universities, are being denied the opportunity, particularly in northern Nigeria, due to his outspoken position on the systemic killing of Christians by bandits and terrorists, especially in communities in Plateau State.

In the statement, Rev. Dachomo described the discrimination against his children as pathetic and called on the Nigerian authorities not to punish his children because of him, as they are innocent and do not deserve such unfair treatment on account of his exposure.

Plateau APC celebrates Gov. Mutfwang's defection, pledges support

After initially opposing the defection of Governor Caleb Mutfwang from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
to the All Progressives Congress, APC, included rallies by different groups rejecting the move, the state chapter of the APC, has now welcomed him and has pledged to support him to succeed in his new political journey.

The APC had vehemently kicked against the idea of Mutfwang joining the party. At a stakeholders' meeting held in Jos, the party elders categorically stated that they would do everything to prevent the governor from joining the party. The women's wing led by Mrs. Elizabeth Yerse also held a rally where they said they did not want Mutfwang to join them, while different youth groups held press conferences and also kicked against the idea.

APC Lamingo Ward receives thousands of defectors

A day after Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in the Lamingo Ward of Jos/Jarawa constituency of Gwafan District, Jos North Local Government Area, recorded a massive influx of defectors from opposition parties.

The decampees were formally received at the APC office located at Prof. Danladi Street on Friday by the Leader of the APC Forum, Emmanuel Itsegoke, alongside the APC Federal Ward Chairman, Ishaya Ashoms.

I will personally take evidence of Christian genocide in Plateau to Trump' - Rev. Dachomo vow

Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the outspoken clergyman who has been the lone voice crying out over Christian genocide in Plateau State, has vowed to personally take evidence of Christian genocide to US President, Donald Trump.

Rev. Dachomo who is the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) for Barkin Ladi local government area, made the promise in a video message on his X handle on Thursday, saying he has enough facts and evidence which he will present to Trump to counter denials by the Nigerian government that Christians are not being targeted for elimination in the state by terrorists and bandits.

In the statement, Rev. Dachomo said he has already requested an audience with the US, and once he is given the go-ahead, he will travel to the United States and present the evidence and facts of genocidal attacks on Christians in the state to Trump and the US Congress.
