Fulani leaders in Mangu reject DSS, Operation Rainbow, local vigilante, prefer soldiers

Leaders of the Fulani community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State have vehemently rejected the continued presence of some security operatives like the Directorate of State Services, DSS, the regular police, the state-run Operation Rainbow as well as local vigilante groups operating in the council.

The Fulani leaders who bared their mind in a viral video on Thursday, said they were against the security operatives and would only prefer the presence of regular soldiers to be stationed in hotspots in the LGA.

According to them, operatives of the DSS, Operation Rainbow, the police and local vigilante groups target their members and look the other way whenever herders are attacked and their cattle stolen.

Speaking in the video, one of the Fulani leaders is heard saying:

"Mu yanzu a Mangu, ba mu son DSS, ba mu son Police, ba mu son Operation Rainbow, ba mu son vigilante. Soja ne mu ke so."

When translated into English, the remarks said:

"We in Mangu, we don't want DSS, we don't want the Police, we don't want Operation Rainbow, we don't want vigilante, we only prefer soldiers."

Rev. Dachomo replies VDM, denies allegations of supporting Tinubu for 2027

The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, for Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has denied allegations of campaigning for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 leveled against him by popular social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, VDM.

VDM has, in a viral video posted on social media platforms on Monday, criticized the cleric of shifting grounds from his harsh harsh criticism of Tinubu to urging prayers for his administration.

According to VDM, Rev. Dachomo who had recently taken his campaign against alleged Christian genocide in the state to Israel, where he was expected to address Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other world leaders on the contentious killing of Christians in the state and the Middle Belt in general.

'Plateau govt must pay us compensation us if they want peace' - Fulani group

A Fulani advocacy group under the aegis of "Voice of Fulani" has demanded monetary compensation from the Plateau State government for what they describe as years of killings of their people, destruction of their communities, as well as killing and rustling of their livestock across the state.

The group, which made the demand in a communique issued at the end of its congress meeting in Jos on Friday, said Fulani people in Plateau State have had to suffer years of attacks, destruction, and displacements in various communities in the state, which has affected their well-being and truncated their means of livelihood and, as such, should be compensated by the state government.

MACBAN lifts suspension of movement of cattle to Bukuru livestock market

The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has lifted a temporary suspension it placed on Fulani traders from supplying cattle to the Kara Livestock Market in Bukuru area of the state.

The organization had on October 6th, placed the ban on following an attack on traders coming from the market on Sunday, October 4th, where unidentified gunmen opened fire on a commercial vehicle at the Bukuru Total roundabout axis in in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

NDC guber candidate, Alfred Dapal Damiyal insists campaign remains on course, urges supporters to remain calm, vigilant

The Plateau State gubernatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Alfred Dapal Damiyal, has insisted that his campaign train code-named ADD, remains on course despite a recent publication presenting a suspended member as the governorship candidate of the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the ADD Media and Communications Team, the NDC flag bearer reassured his supporters to disregard the said publication while urging then to remain calm, vigilant and committed to the course ahead.

"The attention of the Alfred Dapal Damiyal (ADD) Campaign has been drawn to the recent publication presenting a suspended member as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Plateau State," the statement reads.

'I did not pray for Tinubu, Muslim-Muslim ticket' - Rev. Dachomo debunks fake reports

The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, for Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has denied reports that he prayed for the Muslim-Muslim ticket of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shetimma ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The cleric who is currently in Israel in what he described as his first-ever International Christian Advocacy tour where he aims to draw the attention of world leaders to the persecution of Christians in Plateau State, was reacting to reports in certain quarters claiming that he specifically prayed for the election success of the president and drumming up support for the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In post he shared on his social media platforms on Monday night, the outspoken cleric said at no time did he pray for Tinubu and Shettima to succeed ahead of the 2027 election.

He said a post he early shared where he prayed for Nigeria was misconstrued by some people to mean he was praying for the president's election success in 2027.

'I am a son of Plateau, I have the right to speak on state affairs' - Sheikh Jingir

The National Chairman of the Council of Ulama Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, has insisted that he is a bona fide son of Plateau State and has such, has the right to bare his mind on matters concerning the state.

The controversial Islamic scholar who was responding to criticism over his recent comments on issues affecting the state, insisted that as an indigene of Plateau and an Islamic cleric of repute, he will always speak on affairs involving the state as a responsible citizen.

Sheikh Jingir who made the comments on his social media platforms on Monday, said contrary to what many are made to believe, he was born in Gurum District of Bassa Local Government Area, which makes him a native and citizen of the state.

Friends, family mourn Lt. Samson Haruna one year after wife set him ablaze

Family and friends of the late Lt. (Dr) Samson Haruna are still mourning one year after the 31-year-old Army officer died on October 7th, 2025, after succumbing to injuries he sustained when his wife, Mrs. Retyit Obadiah Dalong Haruna, set him ablaze in their home at the 6 Battalion of the Wellington Bassey Barracks in Ibagwa, Akwa Ibom State.

Background to the incident:
On September 22, 2025, Retyit had allegedly set her young husband on fire following a domestic quarrel arising from accusations of infidelity after she reportedly found a text message on his phone purportedly from another woman.

According to reports at the time, Retyit was accused of setting household property ablaze during a domestic dispute, which resulted in the fatal burning of her husband, Lt. Samson Haruna, who was the Regimental Medical Officer of the 6 Battalion of the Nigerian Army.

One year after, we remember late Lt. Samson Haruna who was set ablaze by his wife

Today, October 7th, 2026, marks exactly one year when 31-year-old Lt. (Dr) Samson Haruna died after succumbing to injuries he sustained after his wife, Mrs. Retyit Obadiah Dalong Haruna, set him ablaze in their home at the 6 Battalion of the Wellington Bassey Barracks in Ibagwa, Akwa Ibom State.

Background to the incident:

On September 22, 2025, Retyit had allegedly set her young husband on fire following a domestic quarrel arising from accusations of infidelity after she reportedly found a text message on his phone purportedly from another woman.

According to reports at the time, Retyit was accused of setting household property ablaze during a domestic dispute, which resulted in the fatal burning of her husband, Lt. Samson Haruna, who was the Regimental Medical Officer of the 6 Battalion of the Nigerian Army.

Incidentally, the couple who hailed from the same community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, only got married in April of 2025 but according to neighbours in the barracks, the marriage was full of ugly incidents due to allegations and counter allegations of cheating, infidelity and insecurity especially on the part of the wife.

The whole thing took a deadly dimension on September 22, 2025, during another heated family argument which led to Retyit setting her husband ablaze and he suffered severe burns which ultimately led to his demise on October 7, 2025, at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

Following his death, Retyit and family tried to change the narratives and circumstances surrounding Samson's death, claiming that the fire was started after her husband accidentally kicked a fuel gallon during their argument and lit a lighter he was carrying while threatening to set her on fire.

Lt (Dr) Samson Haruna was laid to rest in his hometown on Saturday, November 15, 2025, with full military honours.
