Amnesty International (AI), has revealed that in just six months from May to November 2025, over 2,500 people were killed in different violent attacks across Plateau State.

In its quarterly report released on Monday, the global non-governmental organization whose aim is to monitor and prevent abuses of human rights as well as promoting rights like freedom of conscience, also stated that over 50 local communities were affected in the attacks while more than 29,554 people were displaced, out of which,093 were children while 16,461 were women, and are now scattered around Internally Displaced Peoples, IDP camps across the state.

The organization said it has actively monitored the attacks, especially in places like Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Riyom, and Bassa LGAs, and the pattern has always been the same, with the attackers often suspected to be Fulani militias, while a few others have been carried out by local youths on reprisal attacks.

'Done Deal' - Gov. Mutfwang's aide gives reasons why Plateau governor is joining APC

The worst-kept secret about the imminent move of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang's decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has been confirmed by his Senior Political Adviser, Mr. Istifanus Nwansat.

Nwansat, who disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Monday, revealed that all bottlenecks for Muftwang to join the APC are being addressed, and it's just a matter of time before making the move public.

Nwansat states that the governor’s decision to join the APC was because of the chaos and instability in the PDP and his desire to align the state with the federal government's presence.

"It is just a matter of time before His Excellency, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang moves to the APC," Nwansat said.
