REJOINDER TO THE PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ANGUWAN ROGO/ANGUWAN RIMI YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION
29th July, 2026
The Anguwan Rogo/Rimi Youth Forum for Sustainable Development and Progress has carefully studied the press release issued by the Anguwan Rogo/Anguwan Rimi Youth Development Association concerning the emergence of the APC candidate for the Jos North–North State House of Assembly.
While we respect the constitutional right of every individual and organization to express their opinions, we categorically reject any attempt to misrepresent the facts surrounding the emergence of the APC candidate or to create unnecessary controversy capable of causing division within the party and our community.
For the avoidance of doubt, there was no primary election for the Jos North–North State House of Assembly ticket. The party adopted a consensus process, in accordance with its constitution and established guidelines, through which Hon. Abdulkadir Hassan (SLA) emerged as the APC candidate.
It is therefore misleading for any group to issue a public statement suggesting that a primary election took place or to make arguments based on a process that did not occur. Such misinformation has the potential to confuse party members, mislead the public, and undermine confidence in the party's internal democratic processes.
We wish to remind all party members and stakeholders that the consensus option is a legitimate and recognized method of candidate selection under the APC Constitution and the Electoral Act. Once the party has validly adopted that process and produced a candidate, every loyal member is expected to respect the decision and work toward the success of the party.
Accordingly, the Anguwan Rogo/Rimi Youth Forum for Sustainable Development and Progress calls on all APC members, stakeholders, and supporters to respect the decision of the party and the consensus that produced Hon. Abdulkadir Hassan (SLA) as the APC candidate for the Jos North–North State House of Assembly.
We further urge all aggrieved persons, if any, to pursue their concerns only through the lawful internal mechanisms of the party and to avoid public campaigns capable of creating unnecessary tension or disunity.
Our position is clear:
- Respect the APC's consensus decision that produced Hon. Abdulkadir Hassan (SLA) as the party's candidate.
- Reject every attempt to distort the facts regarding the candidate's emergence.
- Promote peace, reconciliation, and mutual respect among all party members.
- Support the party's lawful decisions and uphold internal democracy through the appropriate constitutional channels.
The Anguwan Rogo/Rimi Youth Forum for Sustainable Development and Progress remains committed to peace, justice, sustainable development, and the progress of our communities. We believe that party supremacy, respect for due process, and unity are essential to strengthening democracy and ensuring victory for the APC.
We therefore call on all well-meaning members of our community to disregard misleading narratives, remain peaceful, and rally behind Hon. Abdulkadir Hassan (SLA) as the duly recognized APC candidate for the Jos North–North State House of Assembly.
God bless Anguwan Rogo.
God bless Anguwan Rimi.
God bless Jos North.
God bless Plateau State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Signed:
Shuaibu Isa (Major)
Chairman
Anguwan Rogo/Rimi Youth Forum for Sustainable Development and Progress.
