PDP Finalizes Preparations for August 2025 National Convention, Notifies INEC of 100th NEC Meeting with Statutory 21 Days’ Notice.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s leading opposition party, has finalized preparations for its National Convention scheduled to take place from Thursday, August 28 to Saturday, August 30, 2025, in the historic city of Kano.
This significant event is another opportunity for our party to reposition itself in order to provide a robust and united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP Constitution, the party has formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025, at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
The notification, signed by the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum, was delivered to INEC on May 30, 2025, fulfilling the mandatory 21-day notice requirement as stipulated by law.
The 100th NEC meeting will serve as a critical platform to ratify key decisions, including the composition of the National Convention Organizing Committee, chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, with Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State as Vice Chairman and Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State as Secretary.
Additionally, the Zoning Committee, led by Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, with Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State as Vice Chairman and Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State as Secretary, will address zoning arrangements for party offices to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
