A High Court sitting in Maiduguri has sentenced one Nuhu Lawan to three months imprisonment over employment scam.
In a statement revealed that the convict, who is a staff of the Federal Public Complaints Commission in Borno State, was prosecuted on one-count charge of ‘‘cheating" which contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code Cap 102 Laws of Borno State.
Lawan pleaded guilty to the charge press against him, for allegedly collected the sum of N1.1million from one Kaka Goni, under the guise of securing a job for him with the Nigeria Customs Service.
Justice Kumaliya, after listening to the both parties, convicted and sentenced Nuhu to three months imprisonment.
She further ordered that the convict pay the sum of N1.1 million in restitution and, in default, serve five years jail term.
