From Maryam Ahmadu-Suka, Kaduna Thousands of protesters on Monday brought parts of Kaduna city to a standstill as they marched through major streets under the banner of Partners for National Economic Progress (PANEP), accusing a powerful oil cabal of plotting to sabotage Nigeria’s economic recovery by frustrating local refining efforts. The protesters, chanting solidarity songs, carried placards bearing inscriptions such as “Protect Local Refining,” “End Fuel Import Cartel,” and “Support Dangote Refinery.” They converged at the Murtala Mohammed Square before proceeding through Alkali Road, Ali Akilu Road, Ahmadu Bello Way and Muhammadu Buhari Way....

By Babangida Abdullahi, Gusau Armed bandits blocked the Mayanchi–Anka Road in Zamfara State yesterday evening and kidnapped an unspecified number of people. One of the motorists who escaped the attack, Malam Muhammad Ahmad, said the bandits were heavily armed. “The bandits blocked the road and kidnapped many people. Some of us scattered and ran into the bushes. Those who escaped were the ones who hid in farmlands where tall crops were planted,” Ahmad said....

Over 40 Still Trapped in Zamfara Mining Pit From Babangida Abdullahi, Gusau An unspecified number of people trapped under the collapsed mining pit in Kadauri village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, are still underground, with no effort being made to recover their bodies.
