Dear Kaduna Electric, this is not the first time i will say that your inability to communicate effectively is one of your biggest problems. I dunno the person or people handling PR & communications for you but honestly, they need to do better.
I remember how your organisation was bashed and dragged the last time there was power outage for days and your people made a post about going hard on those that engage in meter bypass and energy theft.
Of course, it was a good message but the timing was totally off. You eventually deleted that post because it was at a time when you were supposed to be showing empathy and concern for the people whose livelihood and businesses were affected.
Sadly, your posture and body language shows a complete lack of emotional intelligence- a tool that one must possess especially in an organisation like yours that deals with diverse with people on a regular basis.
At a time like this, what you should be doing is to flood your timeline with updates on the challenges on ground. Show concern and let people know that as soon as this issue is solved, they will get some sort of discount as compensation for the off days. It doesn’t even have to be compensation- let people know that they will not be made to pay for days they didn’t have electricity- which actually is the right thing to do by the way….
I mean, i am sure you have read the comments, concerns and fears of your customers. Engage them, allow them air out their frustration and opinions, assure them that things will get better and however negative the feedback is, you need to take it and ensure you do better so that it can change to positive feedback.
How can you make a post like this at a time when people have been in complete darkness for a week? Maybe your plan is to distract us with some “good news” but right now, the only good news that people want to see is electricity restored. Anything else is wrong timing. I mean, It is good that your football club has gotten new sets of jerseys and all but how does that affect me when all the food in my feezer has gone bad and my business has been on stand-still for a whole week? Do you even realize the pain that people are going through?
This is not the time to put that information out but if you must, then have the balls to open the comment section for people to tell you how they really feel about it.
Again, like i said, zero emotional intelligence and not being able to communicate effectively is one of your biggest problems. It is hurting your organisation more than you can imagine.
