These moves were part of a broader push: 43 federal, 47 state, and 79 private universities by 2019, with polytechnics and innovation institutions also significantly expanded .

Meet twin brothers Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew, who made history at the University of Ibadan by graduating with identical first-class degrees — both with a CGPA of 3.94/4.00 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Their outstanding performance earned them the titles of best graduating students in their department and the Faculty of Technology for the 2023/2024 session.

Matthias served as Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council (11th Assembly), while Matthew was President of the Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI). Their academic journey from 100 to 500 level showed consistent excellence.

She was honoured as the Best Graduating Student in both her department and the entire College of Sciences.

But her excellence didn’t stop in the classroom — Firdous also served as the Academic Director of NACOS (ABUAD Chapter), and represented her university at a tech convention in Babcock University, where her team won an inter-school debate.

Now officially inducted into the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), Firdous is ready to take on the tech world.
