ON INSECURITY AND INCESSANT KILLINGS.

On the issue of insecurity that has bedevilled this country to the point of helplessness and shame, i think the president and his team should go. If my son is made to repeat the same class for 5 consecutive years i will just shift him to somewhere to develope his psychomotor instincts by learning a trade.
What am i saying? If you fail to find a solution to a lingering issue as profound as rampant killings of citizens/insecurity after 5 years, then it won't be a prophesy of doom to not see any positive change in the future.

I appreciate the fact that our armed forces might be short on staff strength with just about 315000 police men ( a large chunk of whom are on VIP duty guarding those who feed fat from our national purse and hence, can afford to hire private security for themselves), we have less than that number in the Millitary as well. But the peasant in my village of Sabon-Birni in Igabi LGA of Kaduna State whose only concern is to be safe enough to go to his farm and take his produce freely (and without fear) to any rural grains market to sell knows and cares not about that. All this peasant knows is that election materials locate him when its time and he votes, he votes for a candidate to first provide him security without which virtually all his other demands and wishes can't be met. All he knows is those he has entrusted through the ballot with his safety do WHATEVER IT TAKES to guarantee it.

I know for a fact that by our very nature, the President will not see the attrocious and unabated massacre of our people on a daily basis as worth his resignation, but then he can do an overhaul of the security apparatus of the country and send home those who have apparently failed.
The inspector general of police, the commandant of the NSCDC, the chief of defence staff, chiefs of army, air, and naval staff, chief of defence intelligence, heads of NIA, DSS, national security adviser, ministers of defence and interior, DIGs in our police, top ranking generals in the Millitary have apparently all failed and should be sent packing and kept under surveillance as they enjoy their retirement. This team has failed and has failed woefully, there is no excuse.

Mr president sir, if what we need is a million man police force, a million man Nigerian army, navy, airforce, and DSS respectively is what we need to secure the lives of Nigerians, then it is what you must do. It is exactly what we voted you to do and we honestly don't give a chicken foot how that is achieved, just get it done and END THE KILLINGS, thats all.

Its a known fact that we are not serious about this security issue in this country, all you need to do to verify that point is go to the supposedly operational stations, commands or offices of some of the armed personnel tasked with tech gadgets for tracking these criminal elements, you will find that these gadgets are used for tracking stolen phones of people who have had them stolen in exchange for 10 to 15k. These are gadgets meant to be used for tracking these bloodthirsty bandits, kidnappers and insurgents. All this factors being considered makes it obvious that we are not really ready to end this.

As a retired Major-General and a battle hardened one at that, the president comes to the media and reveal to the whole nation his orders to carry out aerial strikes against these bandits and even give out the locations before the personnel and aircrafts are even mobilised and scrambled for the purpose. Who reveals battle strategy and modus operandi against an enemy with its own strong network of information gathering and informers.

The simple truth is we have failed as a country to exterminate a band of miscreants, we have allowed them (by the actions and inactions of those tasked with our security) to grow bolder, stronger and more audacious by the day.

We are saying enough is enough, the killings must stop, heads must roll so that the approach might change.
The way and manner this is achieved is non of our concern, just get it done. We don't want anybody to come and tell us Amnesty International are watching, because we Nigerians are those that matter and we are watching too. We are watching alongside the spirits of those who have been taken from us by these sons of filth.

STOP THE KILLINGS NOW.

RANDOM MUSINGS.

As a youth, you just sit there analysing political decisions and moves you have no control over, gloating needlessly over concoctions and at best half truths instead of striving to build your own capacity and expanding your own network in anticipation of your own chance, then anyi biyu babu kenan.

Make time to build yourself, so you don't go and misrepresent the youths when opportunity falls to you whether by your hard work, fate or sheer happenstance.

Those young SAs, SSAs, commissioners and heads of MDAs in Kaduna are also mortals, with one head and one brain, so do politics, it has its own capacity that needs building, but equally important is building yourself. You don't want to fall our hand when you get the opportunity.

Its not late, you can even start now.

Stories/memories from the field.

So one faithful day mysmyself and my team assumed duty for an afternoon shift somewhere within the Kaduna metropolis (along market axis).
We met a vehicle parked literally on the road and causing a heavy traffic gridlock with the area being a market area. I had to detail some of my team guys to direct traffic around the vehicle, and others to stop other vehicles from parking around the axis to ease traffic flow. The vehicle owner was no where to be found.

This went on for about two hours; it was a lot of work controlling the traffic and easing the gridlock. So I instructed that the number plates of the vehicle be removed, and a sticker placed on the vehicle. The offences were wrong parking and causing traffic obstruction.

About an hour later two gentlemen showed up (the vehicle owner and a friend), he asked my guys for his number plate and they directed him to me. He introduced himself as a professor, and his friend a former state lawmaker. I greeted them both warmly, and he asked for his number plates. I told him I've sent them to the office because he wrongly parked his vehicle and consequently obstructed traffic, I told him they were both offences.

Professor immediately got furious, and claimed the vehicle broke down. So I educated him that what indicates a broken down vehicle is the caution sign. And went ahead to ask why he didn't birder to at least push the car off the road. Prof got furious and started blowing English upandan. His friend (the firmer state lawmaker) joined him and asked whether am aware it is "their work am doing". I replied the friend in affirmation, and reminded him they made the laws, and I was just enforcing them.

Prof then reminded me that he is a professor, and that if I knew what was good for me, I better run to the office and fetch his number plates. Unfortunately, I don't do well with threats. So I told Prof (albeit politely) that the reason I was the head of that particular team was because I was a graduate, I attended the university and graduated; meaning I was though by several professors like him, and they all tested me, and I passed, so I had absolutely nothing to be afraid of from his professorship. I reminded him I was just doing my job.

Before I could say Jack Robinson, it had mildly fine into an English sparring match. I brought my A game, and Prof was not backing down. It was much later at the office when the tensions had simmered down that Prof said to me " Haba abokina ai ba haka bane", I was dumbfounded and was like "haba Prof sir, dama ka iya Hausa ka bari munata gwarawa"....

Prof and his friend mellowed down at the office, I called in a favor and asked that the number plates be returned to them with no fine (on me), and we parted with smiles.

Some of the things we go through on the field no be here o.

MY PEN, MY INK, MY CHOICES AND CONVICTIONS.

When I made the decision to lend my pen, my arms, my ink and my legs to the ever so dynamic and at times muddy terrains of the politosphere, it was a choice born of free will and a strong personal conviction. I only had to consult with my conscience, this is a part time hobby that gives me butterflies.

When in its mood, it consumes a significant chunk of my mind. It connects with my passion and gets driven by it.

The bedrock of my being on this sphere is my cherished free will. Hence, as my convictions are mine, my prerogatives to make choices and stands based on permutations and interests are also solely mine. I own them with a hold stronger than any patency.

This pen is a gift I cherish so much, the never ending flow of its ink is a blessing. I set the pen and the ink flows, I rove the pen and the words come forth, echoing my mind.

The words here are my convictions, when I set them forth I send no apologies for escorts. So when I spew them, I mean them.

Interests are tricky things, and dynamic too. They move in different axis and orbits, much like celestial bodies. Sometimes they align, at other times they do not. Its nothing personal, it is just what it it. The height of self deceit is expecting them to remain stationary, the height of irrationality is to react to their shifts or realignments with emotions.
Interests are always on the moves, like on the chess board where the players always move. Hell, even the earth moves constantly.

So I make my choices, I rove my pen, I word my feelings, and I take my stand, they are all me, and I bear no apologies. There is not a word that I pen that I can't defend in a century to come. Last is, am proud of the choices I make, because they are made out of free will.
