In Oct 2019 Arsene Wenger had his first interview with the club after his sacked with Arsenalmedia and cited on the qualities of the player.
He was nominated in 2019, FIFA U19 golden boy award which was so competitive with Chelsea Mason Mount then. In Feb 2020, he became the most valuable midfielder (U21) in Europe transfer market.
Mikel Arteta was appointed and from there when his game time was limited to the bench. He was so hurt (like Ramsdale now) and developed attitude having confrontations with team mates and the coach as well.
In June 2020, in a heat game between Brighton as some players just frustrates opponents by game plan, he said to Maupay.." I earn more than you ever will" and later Maupay scored a winning goal. Since then, Arteta sidelined him to train alone until he left the club.
Arteta on whether he spoke to Matteo Guendouzi on what happened in the game...🗣️
"My job is to make sure that we all behave in relation to the shirt that we wear. What happens on the pitch, I played for 17 years and it stays on the pitch because you can mould and change in words and context very easily and you shouldn't be doing that at all. But obviously we showed frustration. In a way I like it, because it means that we care about losing and we don't accept any defeats. But I like that reaction earlier rather than after football games."
In June 28, 2020. It was a breaking news📰: According to L'Equipe, Matteo Guendouzi handed in a transfer request after Displinary meeting with the board. The report also claimed that Guendouzi doesn't have a bad relationship with Arteta but the French ace is struggling to accept playing fewer minutes than he did during Unai Emery's reign.
His relationship with Arteta made him sent on loan to Hertha BSC 👊 in Oct 5, 2020
Don Fazey-gunn 🗣️
"Not sure what has happened with him and Arteta, shame as he is a good tough young player. Let's hope the loan helps him mature and resolves the problem between him and Arteta. Good luck." 👍
Graham James Newman 🗣️
"It would be interesting to see him captain a league cup team with mostly youngsters. Have him sweep up in the midfield. Try and get him to be the calm and disciplined one. That’s the one area he’s lacking and giving him that role could’ve the making of him"
PST Moses Ibgadia Alasa 🗣️
Good luck to a player with so much yet to tap potentials, he will definitely come back to Arsenal a better player to play better only if Arteta too change his attitude, you can't be a good and successful coach if you are deficient in players management,he should expect more hotheaded players in his carrier,it will be his responsibility to manage them without annimosity.
Guendouzi on his future at Arsenal & Mikel Arteta in March 2021 🗣️..
"From the moment that I'm playing for Arsenal, I will give everything for this club, fans, for the team for the staff. I will work hard for shirt as I have always done .”
Guendouzi rejected a swap deal to Benfica with Tavares as he wanted to join Marseille.
Officially, in July 1,2022. He left permanently to join Olympic Marseille around a fee of €10/11m. He met clauses on his loan deal after playing 38 games on a 3year deal until June 2025.
In Jan 2023, Aston Villa came in strongly to sign him from OM but it fell apart as
Mauricio Sari at Lazio saw his qualities as a midfielder and signed him in Aug 2023.
Despite the position in the serie A in his first season he's been great in their midfield as a regular starter for the club as well and he is in serie A 2023 best XI.
Gooners ♥️ had we kept him, couldn't have been better than Kai Havertz in the midfield pairing with Rice or Kai is enough?
