The Teachings of Islam on Kindness to Animals and All Living Beings

An Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), it is reported that:

A man was walking when he became extremely thirsty. He found a well and went down into it, drank water, and came out. Then he saw a dog panting and eating mud out of severe thirst. The man said, “This dog has reached the same state of thirst that I had reached.” So he went back down into the well, filled his shoe with water, held it in his mouth until he climbed out, and then gave the dog water to drink. Allah appreciated his action and forgave him.
The Companions asked: “O Messenger of Allah, is there a reward even for animals?”
He said: “In every living being there is a reward.”

Islam teaches mercy, compassion, and kindness toward animals and all living

Good treatment of parents in old Age in Islam

But in Islam, Allah the Almighty has commanded us to obey our parents as long as they do not command us to disobey Him. And when parents reach old age, that is the time when we are required to strive even harder in serving and honoring them.

Here are some evidences from the Noble Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:
Allah the Almighty says:
وقضى ربك ألا تعبدوا إلا إياه وبالوالدين إحسانا إما يبلغن عندك الكبر أحدهما أو كلاهما فلا تقل لهما أف ولا تنهرهما وقل لهما قولا كريما
This verse speaks about showing kindness to parents the highest level of kindness especially when one or both of them reach old age.
واخفض لهما جناح الذل من الرحمة وقل رب ارحمهما كما ربياني صغيرا
ووصينا الإنسان بوالديه إحسانا

There are many verses that talk about kindness to parents; these are just a few among them.

Also, in the hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud, he asked the Messenger of Mercy ﷺ: “Which deed is the best?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Prayer at its proper time.” Ibn Mas‘ud then asked: “Then what?” The Prophet ﷺ replied: “Kindness and dutifulness to parents…” until the end of the hadith.

So now, who truly understands the value, dignity, and honor of a human being?

The Bad Behavior of Those Who Criticize Islam Regarding Their Parents in Old Age

People who claim that the Islamic system oppresses individuals often say that Islam is a religion of restriction and hardship. They argue that Islam does not recognize human rights, and they make many similar accusations against it.

Yet, among these same people, you often find that when their parents grow old, they take them out of their homes and place them in elderly care homes.

They claim that at that stage, they are unable to take care of their own parents. They forget that when they were young, helpless children making messes and unable to care for themselves it was their parents who looked after them, cleaned them, and raised them until they became adults.

So where is the “human dignity” they claim to uphold? Where is the respect and honor in this?

Your parents carried you, gave birth to you, and took care of you through every stage of weakness and need. They never abandoned you. But now, when they are the ones in need, you choose to abandon them

And yet, you are criticize Islam!

The foundation of Aqeedah in Islam is the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger

Contrary to what the people of innovation claim that Aqeedah was invented by certain individuals who later wrote it down in books

You will often hear them say that these Aqeedahs are tools of division, created by people who seek to cause discord and split the unity of the Muslims, turning them away from the path and methodology of the Messenger of Mercy ﷺ the path he lived upon and nurtured his companions upon

The Companions then taught it to the Tābi‘īn, and it continued to be passed down generation after generation until it reached us

During the time of the Companions, there were no formal written books, which is why you do not find a specific book attributed to a particular Companion

However, they taught the knowledge they learned from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and that same knowledge was later preserved and compiled into books

One of the biggest mistakes a person can make is thinking that small wrong choices do not matter.
Every action leaves a mark on the heart, at first the mark is light and barely noticeable, but when the same mistake is repeated again and again, it slowly changes the way a person thinks, feels, and sees the world.

What once felt wrong begins to feel normal.
What once disturbed the conscience becomes easy to ignore.

Protecting your character is not about avoiding big mistakes only.
It is about being careful with the small ones, because small habits quietly shape the person you eventually become

Character is not proven in public spaces where people clap for you.
It is revealed in private moments, when no one is there to reward or punish you.
How you speak to people who cannot benefit you, how you behave when rules are not enforced, and how honest you remain when lying would be easier these are the real tests.
Many people perform goodness for attention.
Very few practice it for conscience.
And that difference shapes who you become over time

Modesty in Islam is a girl’s quiet strength.
It teaches her to speak with wisdom, walk with dignity, and guard her heart for Allah alone.
A modest girl doesn’t follow every trend or every voice, she chooses what lifts her character and protects her worth.
Her calmness, her respect, and her discipline become her beauty the kind that never fades.

Indeed, truth is truth. It remains the truth simply because it is the truth not because of the people who follow it.

Therefore, in Islam, upon the path of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the righteous predecessors, we stand with a person only when he is upon the truth and in accordance with it.
But if he goes against the truth, then no matter who he is, we are not with him.

Example:
Pork is HARAM in Islam. Nothing can ever make it lawful from any angle. Even if an Imam slaughters it and mentions the name of Allah over it, that does not make pork halal.

So, anyone who strives to follow the teachings of the Messenger of Mercy (peace be upon him) must know that if any scholar deviates from the teachings of the Prophet, then it becomes obligatory to leave aside that scholar’s opinion completely, without any addition, and without feeling shy in front of someone who himself does not feel shy before Allah and His Messenger.

May Allah, the Exalted King, support and guide us.
