KASU ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SERVICES

The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa has approved the appointment of Hamza Musa Makarfi as the new Director of Corporate Services, effective immediately.

Mr. Makarfi is a distinguished media and development consultant with a career spanning several decades across broadcasting, institutional leadership, and education. His appointment is seen as a strategic step towards strengthening the university’s stakeholder engagement and public communication.

A former Zonal Director of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Kaduna Network Centre, Mr. Makarfi has held other key leadership roles, including General Manager of NTA Lafia, and senior producer roles at NTA Headquarters in Abuja. His nationally acclaimed work includes producing and anchoring high-level policy and infrastructure programmes such as 7 Point Agenda and Power Links. He also served as State House Correspondent during the administration of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Beyond broadcasting, Mr. Makarfi is a committed educator and former school administrator. His academic credentials include a Master’s degree in mass communication from Benue State University, Makurdi, and a bachelor's degree from Bayero University, Kano.

He is widely respected for his strategic insight, development advocacy, and commitment to public service and has mentored numerous professionals in the media and academic space.

The letter signed by the Registrar of the Institution Samira Balarabe, Esq, congratulates Mr. Makarfi on this new chapter and looks forward to the wealth of experience and leadership he brings to the institution.

*NOTICE OF DEMISE*

The University community is hereby informed of the passing of Prof. Ahmad Almardi Saeed Umar, a distinguished scholar in the Department of Islamic Studies at Kaduna State University (KASU).

Prof. Umar, a Sudanese national and renowned international scholar in Islamic jurisprudence, passed away on Friday, 17th January 2025 in Ilorin after a prolonged illness.

He has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

He is survived by his mother, wife, and children.

May Allah (SWT) grant him Aljannah Firdaus.
