Have you ever heard the statement, "Bend, don't break"? It is a business philosophy that emphasizes resilience, adaptability, and flexibility in the face of challenges. The goal is to thrive in disruption. One way to thrive in disruption is to capitalize on the mindset that business is a mission. With this mindset, you go through disruptions by creating new opportunities in the chaos.
The content of Africa is so blessed that almost anything can turn into wealth. However, it is only Africans who don't see that. The Chinese have seen it and are exploiting the continent. The French have seen it and are milking the continent. The English have seen it and have made a beehive out of the continent. Only Africans have not seen it, so they have, in effect, bewitched themselves.
Let's take some examples of a few organizations that understand this mindset, which started out from Nigeria and took on Africa. United Bank of Africa (UBA) and Redeemed Christian Church of God are notable examples of organizations with a mission, bending and not breaking, going from Nigeria to Ghana and beyond.
What can you learn from this? Success always leaves trails. When you see business as a mission, it takes you on a journey across countries and continents. However, this isn't taught in schools.
I am one of those who believe that there is no better time for businesses in Nigeria to expand across Africa. The chaos presents a big opportunity for that. So, on November 16th, we are gathering 20 business leaders with a mission, and I, along with others, will show exactly how to scale or launch profitable businesses in the most efficient and easy way possible in Africa.
