*Frustrations Mar Breakthrough Football Academy After Back-to-Back Heavy Defeats* .
By Salisu Musa Jegus
Newly established and highly motivated Breakthrough Football Academy has, within a short period, emerged as one of the football institutions attracting attention for its management structure, organisation and vision for youth development.
The academy's emergence initially inspired confidence among football followers, with many believing that its philosophy and approach could help produce promising talents who would go on to represent Kano, Nigeria and potentially earn opportunities abroad.
However, recent results have raised concerns about the direction of the young academy, following back-to-back heavy defeats in the Afri League and the opening fixture of the 2026 Nigeria Nationwide League season.
The latest setback came in their Nationwide League opener at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, where Breakthrough Football Academy suffered a 5–3 defeat against the more experienced Miltara FC.
The result has intensified questions among supporters about whether the academy is beginning to move away from its original philosophy, which appears to place greater emphasis on player development, youth progression and building a sustainable football structure.
While defeats are part of football, consecutive heavy losses can expose weaknesses that require urgent attention, particularly for a young club competing against more experienced sides.
For Breakthrough, the priority should not necessarily be immediate promotion at the expense of its long-term development objectives.
The academy may need to return to the fundamentals that inspired its establishment proper player development, tactical discipline, strong coaching structures and gradual team building.
The technical crew and management are expected to analyse the reasons behind the recent performances and identify areas requiring improvement before the situation becomes a deeper crisis.
There is still considerable time for Breakthrough to recover its confidence and rebuild momentum in the Nationwide League. The club possesses young players with potential, but that potential will require patience, proper guidance and a clear football philosophy.
For the supporters who had high expectations following the academy's promising emergence, the recent defeats are undoubtedly frustrating.
However, the coming matches will provide an opportunity for Breakthrough Football Academy to demonstrate whether the setbacks were merely temporary difficulties or signs of a more fundamental problem.
Jegus online tv gathered that the challenge now is for the academy's management and technical team to restore confidence, strengthen the squad and, most importantly, remain committed to the developmental philosophy upon which the institution was built.
The road ahead may be difficult, but how Breakthrough responds to these defeats could ultimately determine the future direction of the academy. an academy of this calibre has to be properly managed.
