*Frustrations Mar Breakthrough Football Academy After Back-to-Back Heavy Defeats* .

Newly established and highly motivated Breakthrough Football Academy has, within a short period, emerged as one of the football institutions attracting attention for its management structure, organisation and vision for youth development.

The academy's emergence initially inspired confidence among football followers, with many believing that its philosophy and approach could help produce promising talents who would go on to represent Kano, Nigeria and potentially earn opportunities abroad.

However, recent results have raised concerns about the direction of the young academy, following back-to-back heavy defeats in the Afri League and the opening fixture of the 2026 Nigeria Nationwide League season.

The latest setback came in their Nationwide League opener at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, where Breakthrough Football Academy suffered a 5–3 defeat against the more experienced Miltara FC.

*Breakthrough Academy Torn Apart at Nationwide League Opener*

Debutants Breakthrough Football Academy suffered a heavy 5–3 defeat to experienced Miltara FC in their opening match of the 2026 Nigeria Nationwide League season at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.

The highly anticipated encounter attracted a large number of supporters who turned up to witness Breakthrough Academy make their debut in the national competition.

However, the newcomers struggled to cope with the experience and intensity of Miltara FC, who quickly exposed weaknesses in the Breakthrough defence and took control of the match.

Despite showing determination and scoring three goals, Breakthrough appeared disorganised at crucial moments, allowing their more experienced opponents to punish defensive mistakes and maintain their advantage.

*10-Man Rising Stars FC Hold AMTY FC to 2-2 Draw.*

It was a thrilling encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, as highly enterprising Rising Stars FC were held to a 2-2 draw by debutants AMTY FC in an entertaining Tofa Premier League clash.

Rising Stars started the match brightly and took the lead early, putting pressure on the debutants and creating several opportunities.

However, the game took a dramatic turn when the Rising Stars goalkeeper was shown a red card, leaving the team with 10 men for the remainder of the encounter.

Despite being a man down, Rising Stars continued to fight, but AMTY FC seized the opportunity and turned the game around, scoring twice to take the lead.

The debutants showed great character and determination, while Rising Stars refused to give up despite their numerical disadvantage.

Their persistence eventually paid off as they found the equaliser to make it 2-2, sending the supporters into excitement.

Both sides pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages, but neither could break the deadlock as the referee brought the entertaining encounter to an end.
