I had the opportunity to join NTA Kaduna on one of their program titled, Mu Leƙa Mu Gani to have a conversation about something that has become a huge part of everyday life — social media and its impact on young people.
We talked about the opportunities social media creates for learning, networking, creativity and business, but also the realities we don’t talk about enough: misinformation, comparison, addiction, online pressure and how easily young people can lose sight of what actually matters.
For me, the conversation came down to one thing:
Social media is a tool. What it becomes in your life depends largely on how you choose to use it.
As someone who works around technology, digital communities and inclusion, I believe we need more conversations that go beyond telling young people to “stay away from social media” and instead teach them how to navigate it better, create with it, and use it to open doors.
Grateful for the conversation and the opportunity to contribute. 🎙️
