What is a Multimeter?
1.
multimeter is an electronic measuring instrument that combines several measurement functions such as Voltage, Current, and Resistance into one unit. It is an essential diagnostic tool for electronics and phone repair.
2.
Used in DC Voltage mode (Vβ) to check if a phone battery has enough charge (3.7\text{V} - 4.2\text{V} or if it needs boosting
Continuity & Diode Testing
Set to Continuity/Buzzer mode (π) to check for broken traces or short circuits on the motherboard. A "beep" sound indicates a continuous connection or a direct short.
Short Circuit Detection
Helps detect whether a phone board has a Full Short phone won't power on) or a Half Short (rapid battery drain or overheating) by measuring resistance across the battery connector
Testing Electronic Components
Used to test component integrity, such as checking Resistor values (\Omega), inspecting Capacitors for leakage, and testing Diodes
Charging Path Diagnostics
Verifies if voltage from the charger is properly reaching the charging IC and battery connector
