Today, I had the honour of representing His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the 10th Anniversary celebration of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) and the official flag-off of the 50 Million Date Palm Programme in Dutse, Jigawa State.
This milestone is a powerful testament to Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and land restoration. I used the opportunity to reaffirm Kano State’s full support to the Great Green Wall Initiative and our shared goal of combating desertification, improving rural livelihoods, and building climate resilience across the Sahel.
As a frontline state, we are scaling our afforestation efforts, greening our cities, and restoring degraded landscapes through bold and people-centered actions. I commend NAGGW’s leadership and all partners for a decade of impact, and I look forward to deeper collaboration as we plant hope and grow impact together.
