Governor Yusuf Mourns Fallen Anti–Phone Snatching Commander

…Describes Late Inuwa Sharada as a Brave Officer Who Died Protecting Kano....

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of the Commander of the Anti–Phone Snatching Unit, Late Inuwa Sharada, describing his death as tragic and a huge loss to the state’s security architecture.

The late officer was laid to rest in Sharada, Kano on Thursday, with Governor Yusuf in attendance at the funeral prayer, where he joined family members, colleagues, and top government officials to pay final respects.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf lamented that the death of Inuwa is setback to current Anti-phone snatching drive in Kano.

Until his death, Inuwa Sharada was the Chairman of Kano State Anti-Phone Snatching, a voluntery group that was adopted by Kano State Government and transformed into Kano State Anti-Phone Snatching and Illicit Drugs Ptotection Squard .

“The death of Officer Inuwa is a painful reminder of the risks our gallant security personnel face daily in their duty to protect the people. He died in active service, defending the peace of Kano.

"On behalf of the Government and the good people of Kano State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire security community,” the Governor said.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to support all security agencies in the fight against phone snatching, thuggery, and other forms of criminality, stressing that government will not tolerate acts of lawlessness or allow criminal gangs to terrorize innocent citizens.

“We will not fold our arms while a few misguided individuals attempt to hold our state hostage. We will continue to provide the necessary support and ensure that justice is served,” he assured.

The Governor also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities in their communities.

“When you see something, say something — together we will reclaim our streets and safeguard our future,” he emphasized.

Governor Yusuf prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late officer, grant him eternal rest, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.

HAJJ 2026: KANO STATE PILGRIMS WELFARE BOARD ANNOUNCES NEW DEADLINE FOR HAJJ PAYMENT COLLECTION

The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, wishes to inform all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise that a new deadline has been set for the final collection and completion of Hajj payments.

Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u made this known today during a meeting with Local Government Hajj Officers and staff of the Board held at his office.

He explained that, in line with the directives of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and in order to ensure smooth planning and logistics for next year’s pilgrimage, all intending pilgrims from Kano State are advised to complete their Hajj payments and related documentation on or before 14th December, 2025.

The Board emphasizes that no payment or registration will be accepted after the new closing date, as arrangements for accommodation, transportation, and other welfare services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will commence immediately thereafter.

The Director General stated that the adjustment became necessary to give intending pilgrims ample time to finalize their payments, while also allowing the Board to effectively coordinate and prepare all necessary arrangements for a successful Hajj operation in 2026.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Board of Directors, Alhaji Yusif Lawan, urged all intending pilgrims to visit their Local Government Hajj Centers, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board Headquarters, or any of its designated zonal offices to confirm payment details, collect receipts, and complete all required forms before the stated deadline.

Alhaji Yusif Lawan prayed to Almighty Allah to grant all intending pilgrims the means and opportunity to fulfill their noble intention of performing the Hajj.

Kano, Guinea Bissau Strengthen Bilateral Relations
..To Partner on Agriculture, Education, Culture and Tourism

The Kano State Government and the Republic of Guinea Bissau have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations with a focus on agriculture, education, culture, tourism, and human capital development.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday.

The development followed a high-level meeting held in Bissau, where the Kano State delegation led by the National Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, paid a courtesy visit to the President of Guinea Bissau, His Excellency Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

The delegation represented the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in areas that promote job creation, youth empowerment, and skill acquisition.

The collaboration will include initiatives in GSM repairs, fish farming, and the cashew and mango value chains, which are key to boosting economic productivity and employment opportunities.

As part of the agreement, the Kano State Government has offered 50 scholarship slots for citizens of Guinea Bissau to study English and Hausa languages in one of the state-owned tertiary institutions.

The initiative aims to foster cultural and linguistic exchange between the two governments and strengthen the historical ties between West African nations.

In his remarks, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló commended the visionary leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and expressed his readiness to pay a return visit to Kano.

He disclosed that he had already directed his Minister of Defence to lead a government delegation to Kano State to explore further areas of partnership.

The Kano State delegation included Hajiya Amina Abdullahi, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Disabilities; Hajiya Sadiya Abdu Bichi, Special Adviser on Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities; Arc. Danjuma Zarewa, former Director-General of Urban Beautification; and Hon. Muhammad Sani Gumel.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building international partnerships that create opportunities for the people of Kano, particularly in human capital development, trade, and cultural exchange.
