HOUSE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN ON INTERIOR SECURES 175 FEDERAL JOBS FOR CONSTITUENTS

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, has secured permanent and pensionable federal employment for 175 constituents into various public and civil service.

The beneficiaries who cut across the Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency of Katsina State, have been absorbed into the Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Army, Federal Medical Centres and Federal Teaching Hospitals in the country.

42 of the constituents have been recruited into the Federal Fire Service, 18 into the Nigeria Immigration Service, over 100 for the Nigeria Police Force and Army and 15 for the Federal Teaching Hospitals and Medical Centres across the country.

This life-changing initiative underscores the first Dujiman Katsina's unwavering commitment and determination to ameliorate the economic crunch and enhance self-sufficiency in his constituency through jobs scheme and empowerment grants.

Presenting letters of appointment to some of the appointees, Ahmed promised to continue to do everything humanly possible to eradicate unemployment and poverty in the constituency.

He said the humanitarian gesture is devoid of political undertone, but aimed at improving the personal and general socio-economic situation of the people of Musawa/Matazu federal constituency.

The lawmaker noted that his major focus was to ensure that all graduates from his constituency were meaningfully employed with permanent and pensionable appointments or empowered with skills acquisition and training.

Ahmed reiterated that the employment of the youths and his revolving skills acquisition programmes will also provide meaningful opportunities for young people to enter the workforce and contribute to the nation’s economy.

BREAKING: House of Reps committee proposes creation of 31 new states

The House of Representatives Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution announced on Thursday, that it has received 31 proposals for the creation of new states across the six geopolitical zones.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu read a letter from the committee during plenary, outlining the conditions that must be met before any state creation requests can be approved.

According to the letter, the proposals include five from the North Central, four from the North East, five from the North West, five from the South East, four from the South South, and seven from the South West.

Among the states being considered are Okun, Okura, and Confluence (Kogi); Benue Ala and Apa (Benue); FCT State; Amana (Adamawa); Katagum (Bauchi); Savannah (Borno); and Muri (Taraba).

The states also include New Kaduna state and Gujarat states from Kaduna state; Tiga and Ari from Kano, and Kainji from Kebbi state; Etiti and Orashi as the 6th state in the South East, Adada from Enugu, Orlu abd Aba from. The South East.

They also include Ogoja from Cross River, Warri from Delta, Ori and Obolo from Rivers; Torumbe from Ondo, Ibadan from Oyo, Lagoon from Lagos, and Ogun, Ijebu from Ogun, Oke Ogun/Ijesha from Oyo/Ogun/Osun states

According to the letters, section 8 of the 1999 Constitution as amended outlines specific requirements that must be fulfilled to initiate the process of state creation.

The letter said “a request to the National Assembly for the purpose of creating a new state shall only be passed if a request supported by at least the third majority of members of the Senate and the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly in respect of the area, and the Local Government Council in respect of the area, is received by the National Assembly.

The Presidency has accused former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai of plotting to unseat President Bola Tinubu.

El-Rufai, who was one of the speakers at the national conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria held in Abuja on Monday, lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to fulfil its promises to citizens.

He hinged his attacks on the party’s leaders on his determination to force them to change.
