why do we use the article "An" before some words that begin with consonant letters ?
Yes , the reason why we use an before some words like "honorable" thought it begins with consonant letter but the letter "h" is silent .therefore any word that begins with consonant letter but sounds vowel letter, then we are to use the article "An" before it.

The article "an" is used before a word which begins with a vowel .e.g an apple, an umbrella and an orange. All of these three words begin with the vowel letter, apple begins with "a",umbrella begins with " u" while orange begins with "o".
