INEC to deploy 1.4m corps members for 2027 elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says over 1.4 million members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will be deployed for the 2027 general election.

Renewed Hope Agenda drives unity via sports โ€” Gov Yusuf

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administrationโ€™s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying sports remain a strong tool for unity and national development.

Represented by his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, at the Northwest Veterans All-Stars Renewed Hope Novelty Football Match held at Sani Abacha Stadium, the governor said sports promote peace and social cohesion.

โ€œEvents like this encourage youth engagement, healthy living, social interaction and peaceful coexistence, which are essential ingredients for national development,โ€ Garo said.

He added, โ€œLet us continue to use sports as a vehicle to inspire hope, empower our youths and strengthen the bonds that unite us as one people.โ€

Hisbah arrests seven men for โ€˜swapping wivesโ€™ in Bauchi

he Hisbah command in Katagum LGA in Bauchi has arrested seven men for allegedly swapping their wives among themselves.

Malam Ridwani Muhammad Khairan, head of the board in the LGA, said the suspects are believed to be members of a group known as Wuddadu.

He described the act as an โ€œunprecedented crimeโ€ that goes against Islamic teachings. He added that the suspects claimed they carried out the act after one of them, identified as Muhammad Awwal, said he had a dream about exchanging their wives.

โ€œOne of them, Muhammad Awwal, confirmed to us that he got this knowledge from a dream, saying that he had a dream of a prophet and that is why they persuaded their wives to do this act,โ€ he said.
