During the ABU Grand Cultural Carnival, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Prof. Aliyu Muhammad.

I first met him at an art gallery in Kano when I moderated an exhibition some time ago, and even then, his cool demeanor left a lasting impression on me.

Prof. Aliyu Muhammad is the Head of the Art History Section in the Department of Fine Art at ABU Zaria and the Chairman of the Society of Nigerian Artists, Kano State Chapter.

As soon as I arrived in ABU Zaria for the Carnival, I couldn’t resist reaching out to him. I called and said, “Hello Sir, I’m here for the Carnival. Can we meet please?”

He wrapped up his commitments, met us at our hotel, and then took us to his department to explore their art gallery.

Later, he guided us through the Carnival’s Fun Fair. Throughout our conversations, sightseeing, and rides, we captured some wonderful moments. You’ll soon see him featured in my documentary.

Majeed Danbaba (Mr. North) is a performance poet from Katsina and a slam contestant at the Kano Poetry Festival

He has performed poetry at events like TEDxKangiwa, TEDxMadoji, and the Katsina Book and Art Festival.

A winner of the Creative Arewa Prize for Enghausa Poetry, he writes and performs in Pidgin, Hausa, and English.
