Sร…D NEWS TO NDOKWA NATION

It is with deep s0rr0w and heavy hearts that Ndokwa-Ukwuani mourns the l0ss of a father, son, and brother who tragically l0st his life at the hands of b@ndits. The p@inful passing of Venerable Edwin Achi, Priest-in-Charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero (Chikun LGA), Kaduna State, has now been confirmed.

Venerable Achi was on the night of 28 October 2025 from his residence in the Nissi community, along with his wife, Sarah Achi, and their daughter. The kidn@ppers demanded a ransom of โ‚ฆ600 million for their release.

On Wednesday night, the Anglican Diocese of Kaduna, Anglican Communion, officially announced that Venerable Achi had d!+ed in c@ptivity. The Diocese described his p@ssing as โ€œa p@inful l0ssโ€ to the church, the clergy, and all whose lives he touched through his faithful ministry, humble spirit, and unwavering devotion to service.

As at the time of the announcement, his wife and daughter remain in captivity. The Diocese has appealed for urgent prayers for their safe release.

In honour of the late cleric, the Diocese has cancelled its planned โ€œStand Up for Jesus 2025โ€ event.

Venerable Achi hailed from UMUAJA in the UKWUANI Local Govmt Area of Delta State, a detail that underlines the national dimension of this tragedy, which transcends regional and ecclesiastical boundaries.

We understand the s@crifยกces you have made in pursuit of livelihood, education, and better opportunities, but we must also remind you that lยกfe comes first before anything else.

If you observe that your environment is becoming uns@fe or that you and your famยกly are exp0sed to any form of d@nger, please do not hesitate to consider returning home to Delta State. I made a post some time ago about the Hausa community residing near all the key exit points of Kwale town. The Hausas have generally been known to be good and kind people. However, recent concerns have been raised about the presence of individuals, possibly including some Fulani whose intentions may not be clear. At the moment, it is difficult to distinguish between different groups within the community, which makes it important for us to remain cautious.

In light of the recent incident that occurred in Asaba, I want to urge all communities across Ndokwa-Ukwuani to stay vigilant. The security situation in the country is uncertain, and it is wise for us to be prepared and proactive. This message is not intended to create fe@r or tensยกon, but rather to encourage awareness and collective responsibility for our safety.
