EMDEX Nigeria's Trusted & Reliable Source for Drug & Therapeutic Information Since 1991
(1)

EMDEX (Essential Medicines InDEX) is the most commonly used reference source of drug and therapeutic information by healthcare professionals in Nigeria.[1][2] It was first published in 1991 as Nigeria's Essential Drugs (NED) Guide. EMDEX drug information contents, arrangements, and therapeutic recommendations are supported by several references and clinical guidelines notably WHO Model Formulary,

WHO ATC (Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical) Classification System, Nigeria's Essential Medicines List, and Standard Treatment Guidelines, etc. The information is regularly reviewed and updated by a select team of healthcare practitioners and academics. The central objective of EMDEX has been to promote rational use of medicines through the provision of independent drug information, and the use of clinical guidelines and essential medicines list.[3] It is the largest and up-to-date source of information on drug products approved for use in Nigeria by NAFDAC (National Agency for Food & Drug Administration & Control).

⚠️ Hepatitis B and C can be spread through reused needles or shared sharp instruments, while hepatitis A and E can spread through contaminated food or water.

Use new, sterile needles, do not share sharp objects, wash your hands regularly, drink safe water, and get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B.

A few simple precautions can make a big difference.

We often think a good night’s sleep means eight uninterrupted hours. But waking briefly during the night may be a normal part of your natural sleep cycle, especially when you can fall back asleep and still feel well during the day.

Sleep specialists explained that most adults should aim for seven to nine hours of sleep each night. However, sleep quality, routine, and how you function during the day also matter.

Keeping a consistent bedtime and wake-up time, staying physically and socially active, and paying attention to caffeine and alcohol intake can support better sleep.

Speak with a doctor if sleep difficulties affect your daily life, you regularly depend on sleep aids, or you wake to urinate more than twice during the night.

Swipe through for simple guidance on building healthier sleep habits.

Measles is entirely preventable, yet it remains a severe, fatal threat to children worldwide.

⚠️Recent estimates from WHO & UNICEF highlight a growing immunity gap:84% of children received dose 1 in 2025.Only 77% received dose 2.

This is below the 95% coverage threshold necessary to secure community defense and prevent localized outbreaks.

Real defense requires 2 complete doses of the measles vaccine. Give your children the best protection possible.

Fungal infections can affect the skin, nails, lungs and other parts of the body.

According to World Health Organization , fungal diseases affect more than 300 million people each year. Invasive fungal diseases are also linked to approximately 3.8 million deaths annually, while resistance to antifungal medicines continues to increase.

Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment matter. If symptoms persist, speak with a qualified healthcare professional and avoid using antifungal medicines without proper guidance.
