*Workers receive N70,000 minimum wage in Adamawa*

Following a promise made by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri last week, the Adamawa State government has commenced the payment of a N70,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.

The N70,000 minimum wage fulfils the commitment made by Governor Fintiri during his meeting with the Labour Union on August 19, 2024.

A cross-section of civil servants, in interviews after receiving their August salaries, commended Governor Fintiri for keeping his promise to the workers.

Saliyatu Mohammad, a civil servant with the Ministry of Land and Survey, expressed her satisfaction, stating that Governor Fintiri had demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the workers with this gesture.

Mr. Emmanuel Amos Tumba, a school teacher, confirmed the salary increase, saying, “I can confirm to you that the salary increase has been effected and I received it. I commend the governor for this.”

On August 19, 2024, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri approved the payment of the N70,000 national minimum wage to workers on both state and local government payrolls.

The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, revealed this in an interview with newsmen shortly after he led labour leaders to a meeting with Governor Umaru Fintiri.

HOW QUEEN AMINA DIED IN ATTAGARA, KOGI STATE

Queen Amina was the daughter of King Nikita's, the 22nd King of Zazzau. After the death of their father, her elder brother, Karama became the King. There were wars fought by Karama in order to expand the kingdom as done in those days. In those wars, the young Amina was part of the warriors. Not too long, his brother died, and Amina was made the King by the Kingmakers. This time, she had to organize special warriors as she wanted. She continued the expansion of the kingdom by invading towns, taking over the rulership by installing his person or making them to be paying tribute to her. From Zaria, she was expanding her kingdom left, right and center. After expanding from far North to North Central, it was the time to take over Igala land to be part of the Zazzau kingdom, and Igala kingdom to be ruled by a Hausa person that she will install. Igala, in those days was like a state or country on her own. She had almost all the sectors in Nigeria of including security. This also include the Navy who are on the waters. Amina was coming with her warriors, and this time they were already at Itobe where the Igala check point stopped at that time. Now, it was their role to stop and search before people pass. And anyone suspected to be a problem person will be denied access to Igala kingdom. On this day, Amina was been carried on her chair by 4 men. It is a taboo to even carry a man apart from Attah Igala like that in Igala let alone been a woman. The Igala soldiers at the check point gave them the command to stop, they were still coming. They asked them to stop they were still coming. In the process, the exchange firé started. In the battle, the Queen died, and could not reach the palace of Attah Igala though already in Igala land or Attah Igala land which the call Attagara.
