100 Days of Purposeful Leadership: The Achievements of Hon. Isah Miqdad as Executive Chairman, Katsina Local Government

In just 100 days, Hon. Isah Miqdad has redefined what it means to lead with vision, action, and sincerity. His administration has focused on impactful projects that touch every sector, from education and health to agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

Some of His Major Achievements

a. Boosting Agricultural Development
1. Constructed a modern Agricultural Mechanization Centre to promote mechanized farming.
2. Partnered with Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYUK) to establish a 200-hectare modern farm for training and food production.
3. Received agricultural equipments from ADPU to enhance local productivity.

b. Empowering Education and Youth
1. Awarded fully funded scholarships to 96 students to study ICT and other skills at KSITM.
2. Partnered with UNICEF to train Almajiri pupils, giving them access to education and basic life skills.

c. Health and Sanitation
1. Approved the complete renovation of Sabuwar Unguwa Maternity Clinic.
2. Rehabilitated MCHC Rafindadi and MCHC Kangiwa to improve maternal and child healthcare.
3. Initiated drainage projects across 12 wards to reduce flooding and improve hygiene.
4. Installed hand pumps and motorized boreholes in several wards to provide clean water.

d. Light and Security
1. Procured 96 solar-powered streetlights for installation across the 12 wards to improve security and ease movement at night.
2. Launched a free training program on solar system installation, operation, and maintenance to create skilled technicians locally.

e. Governance and Welfare
1. Approved a 100% increase in allowances for the Cemetery Oversight Committee, recognizing their service to the community.
2. Renovated three new offices for Supervisory Councillors to ensure effective governance.
3. Recorded a 114% increase in internally generated revenue within just one month, a clear sign of fiscal discipline and trust.
4. Provided motorcycle for Tax officers to boost field operations.

Katsina Local Government under the leadership of Hon. Isah Miqdad AD Saude, has taken a significant step towards empowering its youth by launching a scholarship program for indigenous students. The program, which provides an opportunity for deserving students to pursue their National Diploma (ND) studies at the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) without financial burdens, was announced earlier.

Today Tuesday July 1st, 2025, the screening exercise for the students took place at the institute's auditorium. The exercise is a crucial step in identifying the beneficiaries of the scholarship program.

This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, enabling them to pursue their academic goals without financial constraints, develop their skills and knowledge in their chosen fields, and contribute to the development of Katsina and beyond.

The scholarship program is an effort on Hon. Isah Miqdad's vision for a brighter future for Katsina Local Government, where young people can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed. This initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to the development and welfare of its people, prioritizing education as a cornerstone for sustainable development.
