Farmers Laud Governor Radda as Katsina ACReSAL Distributes free Agricultural Support to Farmers
In continuation of its efforts to strengthen agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of rural communities, the Katsina ACReSAL Project has distributed various farm inputs to selected farmers across communities of Katsina, Jibia and Kaita local government areas of the State.
Speaking during the distribution exercise held at Kabukawa in Katsina, the Katsina ACReSAL Project Coordinator Alhaji Nafiu Muhammed Musa represented by the M&E Officer, Aminu Ahmed said the intervention was part of the projects commitment to support farmers and enhance agricultural production across the state.
He explained that the distribution is among the objectives of the ACReSAL Project, which focuses on promoting livelihoods, improving climate resilience and supporting vulnerable communities.
According to him, the beneficiaries were carefully selected through a transparent process.
The project coordinator disclosed that the project constituted a committee that visited several communities across Katsina, Jibia and Kaita local government areas to identify genuine farmers who would benefit from the intervention.
He said the committee went round various communities to ensure that the support reaches deserving farmers who are actively engaged in agricultural activities.
He stated that this was done to guarantee fairness, transparency and impact of the intervention.
Alhaji Nafiu Muhammed Musa further revealed that about 600 beneficiaries from the three Local Government Areas would benefit from the gesture free.
He urged the beneficiaries to make effective and judicious use of the items provided in order to increase agricultural output, food security and development of their communities.
The items distributed included solar-powered water pumps, pesticides, improved crop seeds, wheelbarrows, fertilizers, planters, sprayers and among others.
In their reactions, the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, World Bank and the Katsina ACReSAL Project for the timely intervention.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Jamilu Lawal Jibia, a farmer from Gadirge in Jibia described the support as timely and impactful, noting that it came at a time when many farmers were facing difficulties due to the rising cost of agricultural inputs.
He said the intervention would reduce hardship among farmers and increase crop production in the benefiting communities and beyond.
Malam Jamilu Lawal commended Governor Radda and the Katsina ACReSAL Project for their commitment to supporting rural farmers across the state.
He therefore pledged to make use of the items which according to him would increase farming activities across Katsina State.
