SENATOR YARI FLAGS OFF 12TH EDITION OF PARLIATIVES DISTRIBUTION: 145 TRUCKS OF MAIZE AND 42,000 BAGS OF SEMOVITA FOR 210,000 BENEFICIARIES AS TOTAL REACHES 1.9 MILLION IN ZAMFARA

The Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Palliatives State Distribution Committee, Dr. Lawal M. Liman (Gabdon Kaura), has today flagged off the 12th edition of Senator Yari's parliatives with 145 trucks of Maize and 42,000 bags of Semovita to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, and vulnerable households across Zamfara State.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held in Kaura Namoda, the headquarters of Zamfara North Senatorial District on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Dr. Liman said the distribution will commence simultaneously across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to him, each beneficiary will receive one 10kg bag of Semovita, while four persons will share one 100kg bag of Maize. He stressed that 15,000 beneficiaries are expected to benefit from each of the 14 Local Government Areas, making a total of 210,000 beneficiaries for this 12th phase.

Speaking further, Dr. Lawal M. Liman said the palliatives were provided by Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, (Marafan Sokoto) considering that it is the mid-term season when food shortages are usually experienced. The intervention is aimed at easing hardship and supporting the teeming displaced persons across the state.

Dr. Liman further revealed that with the commencement of this 12th edition, the distribution of Senator Yari’s palliatives has now reached over 1,900,000 beneficiaries within three years.

He charged the beneficiaries to intensify prayers for the country, and specifically for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the donor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto.

APPOINTMENT OF ZONAL SECRETARY, NORTH WEST

The Zonal Coordinator, North West of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Abdulazeez Abubakar Kaka, is pleased to announce the appointment of Hon. Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam as Zonal Secretary, North West, City Boy Movement.

Hon. Abdulmalik Gajam is a seasoned professional, entrepreneur and public servant with extensive experience spanning governance, economic planning, public finance, education, business development, technology and project management.

He currently serves as a Member of the Zamfara State Executive Council and Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Planning, while also serving in several strategic committees of the Zamfara State Government, including the Zamfara Economic Planning Board, Public Finance Management Committee, Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme and other development-focused initiatives.

He holds a BSc in Information Technology and Business Information Systems from Middlesex University Dubai and an MBA in Project Management, alongside executive qualifications from Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Business School in areas including infrastructure financing, private equity, venture capital, artificial intelligence, technology and public policy.

His professional and community engagements also include youth development, conflict resolution, research, business development and technology. He is the founder of Youth’s Liaison Movement (YLM) and has received several recognitions for his contributions to youth development and community service.

With his wealth of experience, strong institutional understanding and proven leadership capacity, we are confident that Hon. Abdulmalik Gajam will bring competence, energy and strategic coordination to the leadership of the City Boy Movement across the North West.

*ZAMCHEMA HOLDS STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT MEETING WITH MEDICAL DIRECTORS OF ACCREDITED SECONDARY HEALTH FACILITIES*

The Executive Secretary/CEO of ZAMCHEMA, *Haj. Zainab Muhammad Hassan*, today chaired her first engagement meeting with Medical Directors of accredited secondary health facilities in Zamfara State.

The meeting was convened to foster mutual familiarization, strengthen collaboration, improve quality of service delivery to enrollees, work collectively to achieve the Agency’s mandate, and create a platform for open dialogue on operational challenges and solutions.

In his goodwill message, the Medical Director of Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau, *Dr. Aminu Nahuce*, commended the Executive Secretary for her strategic reform agenda aimed at strengthening the Agency.
He appealed to ZAMCHEMA to support the facilities to ensure efficient and sustainable service delivery.

In her keynote address and presentation, the Executive Secretary, Haj. Zainab Muhammad Hassan, appreciated the participants for their attendance and assured them of tangible outcomes from the engagement.

She subsequently presented ZAMCHEMA’s new reform agenda, which is anchored on the following strategic pillars:
1. Restructuring
2. Enrollment – Formal and Informal Sectors
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
4. Resource Mobilization
5. Strategic Purchasing
6. Good Governance and Accountability
7. Data Management System

She also added by assuring the MDs that there will be a review of the benefit package to fall inline with the NHIA standard. She assured them of continuous engagements going forward and the creation of platforms where they can deliberate from time to time.

The session featured robust discussions on existing challenges, achievements recorded so far, and practical solutions to address identified obstacles in service delivery and scheme implementation.

In his closing remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Hospital Services Management Board, represented by the Director of Medical Services, *Dr. Aminu Ibrahim*, commended the Executive Secretary for the productive engagement.
He assured the Agency of the Board’s continued support and wished participants a safe trip to their various destinations.

FG Commits ₦32.8bn BHCPF Disbursement to Improve Healthcare Delivery Nationwide

The Federal Government has approved the disbursement of ₦32.8 billion through the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) implementing gateways to strengthen healthcare delivery across Nigeria.

The funding is aimed at sustaining recent gains in population health outcomes and disease control, while expanding access to quality primary healthcare services for citizens, regardless of their location or socio-economic status.

The approval was one of the major outcomes of the 15th Ministerial Oversight Committee (MOC) meeting on the National Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative, the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund, the Sector-Wide Approach, and Government and Donor-Funded Programmes and Initiatives.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, and the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako.

The Committee also reviewed key performance indicators, financial reports, programme implementation milestones, and emerging priorities requiring policy attention. Members identified strategic measures to address implementation bottlenecks and agreed on timelines for delivering priority interventions ahead of the next quarterly review.

The meeting ended with renewed commitments from government institutions and development partners to strengthen collaboration, reinforce Nigeria's health system, and accelerate the delivery of impactful healthcare interventions across the country.
