Tinubu Seeks Extra $47m for Lagos-Calabar Highway, Eyes Broader Connectivity Push

President Bola Tinubu has asked the House of Representatives to approve a revised borrowing plan that includes an extra $47 million for the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

This request forwarded through Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and signed by Finance Minister Wale Edun would raise the total cost of the project from $700 million to $747 million.

Also part of the revised plan is a $300 million proposal to expand mobile network access to over 21 million people in nearly 5,000 remote communities.

The goal? Build 7,000 telecom towers to improve coverage in hard-to-reach areas under the Nigeria Universal Communication Access Project.
