Numbers and Narratives: A Teacher’s Reflections
The Best Investment You’ll Ever Make Is in Your Child’s Education!
By Olise Neme
Dear Parents, here’s a little truth from a teacher’s heart...
It’s not enough to provide your children with the basics of life — food, shelter, and clothing.
Nothing truly compares to the value of a quality education( feed their minds, not jus their bodies)
A good formal education builds academic knowledge through structured schooling, while informal education shapes character, discipline, and practical life skills through everyday experiences. Together, they produce confident and well-rounded individuals.
Having taught in Kwale, Delta State for six years, I’ve seen firsthand how much parental involvement matters.
There’s one parent I deeply admire — a man who doesn’t just pay school fees; he invests in his children’s growth.
He organizes extra lessons in key subjects.
He encourages vocational training during holidays.
He instills respect, discipline, and hard work at home.
And the result? His children always stand out — intelligent, respectful, and confident.
What Research Reveals
Studies consistently show that children whose parents actively engage in their learning perform better academically, socially, and emotionally.
In simple terms — when parents get involved, children learn better, stay motivated, and grow stronger in confidence.
The message is simple:
Don’t just send your kids to school — get involved.
Don’t just pay tuition — pay attention.
Don’t just provide — participate.
Education is the best legacy you can ever give your child. Feed their minds as you feed their bodies — and you’ll raise children who fear no challenge.
