HOW TO READ AND UNDERSTAND SCRIPTURE

Many Christians read the Bible every day but still struggle to understand what God is saying. The truth is, the Bible is not just a book to be read and closed; it is God's Word, and He wants us to understand it.

Before you open your Bible, pray. Ask God to give you understanding.

"Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law." — Psalm 119:18

As you read, don't rush. Ask yourself:

• Who is speaking here?
• What is happening?
• What lesson is God teaching?
• What does this reveal about God's character?

Also, avoid reading a single verse in isolation. Read the surrounding verses and chapters to understand the full message.

Take time to meditate on what you have read.

"But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night." — Psalm 1:2

When we understand God's Word, our faith grows.

"Faith comes from hearing the message." — Romans 10:17

God's Word also gives direction.

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." — Psalm 119:105

And according to 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Scripture equips us for righteous living and good works.

So, don't just read the Bible to finish a chapter. Read it to hear God speak, to learn, and to grow. The more time you spend in God's Word, the stronger your relationship with Him becomes.

A DAILY REFLECTION.

1. Did I offer peace today?

2. Did I bring a smile to someone's face?

3. Did I speak words of healing?

4. Did I let go of anger and resentment?

5. Did I forgive?

6. Did I love?

These are the real questions we should ask ourselves every day.
Trust that every little seed of love you sow today will bear many fruits both in this world and in the life to come.

Did I offer peace today?
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God." Matthew 5:9

Did I bring a smile to someone's face?
"A cheerful heart is good medicine." Proverbs 17:22

Did I speak words of healing?
"Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." Proverbs 16:24

Did I let go of anger and resentment?
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger... be put away from you." Ephesians 4:31

Did I forgive?
"Forgive one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." Ephesians 4:32

Did I love?
"Above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness." Colossians 3:14

These are the real questions I should ask my self every day.

"For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7

Beginning today, treat everyone you meet with care, kindness, and understanding.
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." Matthew 7:12
Do good without expecting anything in return.

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9

Life is short and uncertain, we don't even know when to die.

"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow... For what is your life? It is even a vapour." James 4:14

Live with a clear conscience before God and man.
"And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men." Acts 24:16

Choose love. Choose peace. Choose forgiveness. Choose Christ.

FAITH IN DIFFICULT TIMES: TRUSTING GOD FULLY

Life is not always easy.

There are seasons when prayers seem unanswered, doors remain closed, finances become tight, and the future looks uncertain. In moments like these, fear often knocks louder than faith.

But faith is not the absence of problems; faith is choosing to trust God even when you do not understand what He is doing.

Anyone can praise God when everything is going well. True faith is revealed when the storm is raging, yet you still declare, "Lord, I trust You."

The same God who brought Joseph out of prison, preserved Daniel in the lions' den, and carried David through countless battles is still at work today. Your situation may be difficult, but it is not beyond God's power.

Do not allow temporary challenges to make you doubt God's eternal promises. Delays are not denials. Trials are not proof of God's absence. Sometimes, God is working behind the scenes, preparing a testimony greater than the struggle you see today.

If you are passing through a difficult season, hold on. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep walking with God. The chapter you are in is not the end of your story.

God remains faithful, even when life feels uncertain.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

Today, choose faith over fear and trust God fully.

TRUE WORSHIP AND REVERENCE TO GOD

True worship goes beyond singing, attending church services, or engaging in religious activities.

It is the sincere response of a heart that recognizes God's greatness and honors Him through love, obedience, humility, and reverence.

Jesus said:

"The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth." — John 4:23

To worship in spirit is to worship from the heart. It is not about outward appearance or routine practices, but about a genuine relationship with God expressed through sincere prayer, devotion, and submission to His will.

To worship in truth is to worship according to God's Word and His nature.

True worship is not driven solely by emotions or traditions; it is grounded in the truth of who God is.

Reverence for God means having deep respect, honor, and awe for Him.

It is reflected in our obedience, our conduct, our words, and our willingness to live according to His commands.

Scripture reminds us that:

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." — Proverbs 9:10

This fear is not terror, but a recognition of God's holiness and sovereignty.

The Bible also teaches that God rejects worship that is merely external. Jesus warned:

"These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me." — Matthew 15:8

A true worshiper loves God wholeheartedly, walks in obedience, lives humbly, exercises faith, and continually offers praise to God.

May our worship never be limited to words or religious activities alone. May it be reflected in our daily lives through sincere devotion, obedience, humility, and unwavering reverence for God. 🙏

True worship begins in the heart and is revealed through a life fully devoted to God.

DAY 3.

THIRD SESSION

BY ELDER JOSEPH OBUJE

TOPIC:
SEEKING WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE FROM GOD THROUGH PRAYER

As the conference continued, Elder Joseph Obuje spoke on the importance of seeking wisdom and knowledge from God through prayer.

He reminded the church that wisdom and knowledge are among the key virtues emphasized by Solomon in the book of Proverbs.

The servant of God taught that whenever believers find themselves lacking wisdom, they should turn to God rather than relying solely on human understanding. The congregation was directed to James 1:5, which says:

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Elder Joseph Obuje explained that whenever believers face temptations, challenges, or difficult decisions, they should seek God's wisdom through prayer. Prayer is the channel through which we communicate with God, receive direction, and find strength to overcome life's trials.

He emphasized that instead of running from one person to another for answers, believers should first take their needs before God in prayer, worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. Whether it is building a house, choosing a life partner, raising a family, or facing any challenge in life, God is always ready to provide wisdom and direction to those who seek Him.

The church was further encouraged to trust in God's willingness to listen. Elder Joseph Obuje reminded the congregation that God never grows tired of His children.

No matter how many times we come before Him in prayer, He is always ready to hear and help us.

The message concluded with a charge to believers that if we truly call ourselves children of God, then our lives should reflect the character of our Heavenly Father. We should trust Him, seek His wisdom, and depend on Him in all things.

To the Glory of God, as we come to the end of this conference ( Otukpo) we look forward to meet again in Ochekwu conference at ( Ofoke )

DAY 3.

SECOND SESSION

BY ELDER JOSHUA ADEGAHI

As the conference continued, Elder Joshua Adegahi reminded the church that every position, responsibility, and place God has assigned to His children is for a purpose and for His glory.

The servant of God emphasized that wherever God has placed a believer, whether in the church, family, workplace, or community, it is not by accident.

God deliberately places His children in different positions so that they may fulfill His purpose and bring glory to His name.

Elder Joshua encouraged believers not to deviate from the path God has set before them. Instead, they should remain focused, faithful, and committed to the assignment God has entrusted to them.

He reminded the Congregation that God expects His children to strive diligently and accomplish the purpose for which they were called.

The church was also reminded that many people seek positions for personal glory, forgetting that God places us where we are for His purpose.

Wherever we find ourselves, we should serve faithfully, walk in truth, and bring glory to God through our lives and actions.

The congregation was therefore encouraged to remain steadfast, knowing that every divine assignment carries a responsibility, and that faithfulness in God's purpose brings glory to Him.

DAY 3

MORNING SESSION

By Elder Elijah Haruna

As the conference gradually approached its conclusion, Mr Elijah Haruna reminded the church that many temptations await believers as they return to their various homes.

He explained that the world, the devil, and the flesh are continually at war against the children of God, seeking to draw them away from the path of righteousness.

The servant of God encouraged believers not to allow these forces to overcome them but to remain steadfast in faith and wholly committed to God.

He also emphasized that those who depend on God will be preserved from falling into sin and will receive the strength needed to overcome every temptation.

Elder Elijah Haruna further reminded the church of the importance of loving their neighbours and doing good with sincerity.

He taught that genuine love should not be reserved only for those who love us in return but should be extended to all people.

The congregation was directed to Luke 6:32:
" _For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them."_

The People was also warned against deceit, hypocrisy, and every form of dishonest living.

Elder Elijah stressed that believers should live upright and transparent lives, allowing their conduct to reflect the Gospel they profess, rather than becoming stumbling blocks to others.

Christians should serve as living examples of Christ, so that through their character and lifestyle, others may be encouraged to seek and follow God.

Believers were encouraged to live as true children of God, free from fear and anxiety, while holding firmly to the commandments of the Lord.

Even when the world looks down on them or regards them as insignificant, they should remain faithful, obedient, and unwavering in their commitment to God.

The church was further reminded that God desires His children to practice what they preach.

Our actions should consistently reflect our faith so that others may witness God's goodness through us and be drawn closer to Him.

Believers were encouraged to maintain pure hearts and to be careful not to bring reproach upon the name of the Lord through their conduct.

In conclusion, the servant of God reminded the church that those who diligently keep God's commandments are precious in His sight and will be esteemed like refined gold before Him.

A RECAP OF THE EVENING SESSIONS

The conference was indeed a powerful, enlightening, and life-transforming gathering as God ministered through His servants, bringing correction, wisdom, conviction, and a renewed call to genuine Christianity.

From the very first session, we were reminded that God must remain the very foundation of our lives. No matter the pursuit, achievement without God is ultimately empty and meaningless.

Believers were strongly encouraged to place God above wealth, business, ambition, and every worldly desire.

The second session led us deeper into the importance of maintaining a pure and upright heart before God.

The Lord reminded His people that Christianity is not merely about preaching eloquently, but about practicing faithfully what we profess openly.

In a generation overwhelmed by corruption, dishonesty, compromise, and hypocrisy, believers are called to stand out as vessels of integrity, holiness, and sincerity.
A profound question was also raised during the teaching:

Why do people often make promises they already know they cannot keep? Many speak carelessly and abandon commitments without remorse.

The servant of God further referenced the alarming increase of broken homes and divorces in society today.

Many couples once stood before God, making solemn vows of love, faithfulness, and lifelong commitment, yet some later walk away from those sacred promises.

Have we truly forgotten the vows we made before God?
The final session centered on love, sincerity, and having good intentions toward others.

We were admonished to avoid jealousy, bitterness, hatred, and evil thoughts against our neighbours.

Instead, believers were encouraged to genuinely celebrate others, do good wholeheartedly, and trust God Himself for every reward.

Indeed, God is searching for men and women who will love sincerely, live uprightly, keep their words faithfully, and reflect Christ in their thoughts, speech, character, and actions.

Ponder over this!
