Tragic Road Crash in Adamawa State Claims Lives of Four NYSC Corps Members.

At least six people, including four serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, a Nigerian Army soldier, and one other passenger, were burnt to dÂŁath in a horrific road accident on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The fatal collision occurred around 1:50 p.m. along the Narehi area of the Girei-Song highway on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 in Adamawa State, when a military gun truck collided with a commercial Hummer bus. The bus caught fire after the impact, trapping all five passengers inside and leading to their tragic dÂŁaths.

Preliminary identification by the Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that four of the victims were NYSC corps members posted to the state. Two have been named as Suleiman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both from Kaduna State, while efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining victims.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has officially joined the ongoing probe into a major voter data breach, after revelations by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the leak was traced to an insider within the commission.

Recall that Nigerians had called on the DSS to make investigation after Nyesom Wike's aide, Lere Olayinka, posted screenshots of Nollywood actor Emeka Ike’s voter transfer application from INEC’s restricted portal, highlighting potential violations of the Nigeria Data Protection Act and Cybercrime Act, and question INEC’s security and independence ahead of the 2027 elections.

INEC disclosed that sensitive voter information, including personal details of registered voters, was compromised through unauthorized access by someone with internal privileges.

The electoral body has already launched an internal investigation and is working closely with the DSS to identify the culprit, determine the full extent of the breach, and prevent further exposure of citizens' data.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has led a high-powered joint security team — comprising operatives of the Nigerian Army, the Anambra State Police Command, and the Agunechemba Security Squad — to Ndiukwuenu community in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

The team visited the scene of the tragic incident along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road, where suspected gvnmen ambushed a police patrol team returning from duty on Sunday night, k!lling two policemen and two civilians.

During the on-the-spot assessment, CP Orutugu ordered a full-scale manhunt for the perpetrators, directing the deployment of specialised forensic assets to aid the investigation. He also issued a 48-hour ultimatum to all police formations to fish out the k!llers and warned that such attacks on security personnel would not be tolerated.

The Commissioner further reprimanded local leaders, including the Councillor representing Ndiukwuenu Ward and the President-General of the community, for allegedly failing to promptly alert security agencies about the activities of criminal elements in the area. The community leaders have since been drafted to join the joint security team in the ongoing manhunt.
