Jose Mourinho’s reaction to Man Utd allowing Scott McTominay to leave Old Trafford and sign for Napoli
United signed Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain and the 24-year-old Uruguayan midfielder’s arrival paved the way for Scott McTominay’s departure.

Erik ten Hag was Red Devils head coach at the time of McTominay’s exit and the 55-year-old Dutchman had been keen to keep hold of the Napoli ace at Old Trafford.

Mourinho is convinced that United’s decision to sell McTominay was a “huge mistake” in an error of decisions made in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

When he first trained with the first team, he didn’t go there to stroll around, he didn’t go back to the youth team,” he added.

“He went there to stay there.

“After Manchester United made the mistake of letting him go, we all know that over the last seven, eight, nine years, they’ve made many mistakes.

“But this one was a huge, huge mistake.”

McTominay has deeply impressed at Napoli since his move to Italy and the former United academy prospect has become a key player for manager Antonio Conte.

Bruno Fernandes named Premier League Player of the Week
At the start of December, Fernandes was named Player of the Week in the Premier League for gameweek 13 after leading United’s comeback against Crystal Palace to win 2-1.

Now, after helping United to a dominant win over Wolves, Fernandes has replicated his feat and won the Premier League Player of the Week for gameweek 15.

As per the Premier League, Fernandes completely dominated the poll with 50% of votes. Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki ranked second with just 14% of votes.

It was Fernandes’ second Player of the Week award this season. United teammates Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire have also won the award in 2025/26.

Bruno Fernandes has had to contend with a position change in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign after Ruben Amorim tweaked his role in his tactical system.

The Manchester United star has been playing deep in the two-man midfield pivot of Amorim’s tactical system alongside Casemiro and his influence has waned at times.

However, Fernandes has been able to shine on different occasions for the Red Devils, including his impact in United’s 4-1 demolition of Wolves at the Molineux.

Speaking to the Premier League’s official website, Alan Shearer lavished praise on the Red Devils skipper for how he was ‘running’ the United midfield against Wolves.

“Fernandes led by example once again,” he said.

“Ran the midfield and not only scored two goals, but produced some excellent passes, including a sensational delivery for Mason Mount.

Rio Ferdinand’s feelings on Alejandro Garnacho leaving Man Utd and completing his move to Chelsea
Garnacho inked a deal with Chelsea until 2032 and the former United talent has made 15 appearances across all competitions for the Blues in his debut season.

United legend Ferdinand said that he could see why Garnacho decided to quit the Red Devils after his relationship with Ruben Amorim splintered last season.

“I can’t change and go and play for Scotland, Ireland, Wales or wherever,” he continued.

“I’m staying with England because you can’t change that badge.

Ferdinand added: “But at club level, I’m certain if the manager don’t trust me, I’m certain that I’m sitting there going, ‘Well, we both shouldn’t really be around each other because it’s going to blow up and you’re not going to get best out of me and you’re not obviously getting what you want.’

“So, you’ve got to go and Garnacho has made a decision that was best for him. And I think sometimes you’ve got to do that as well.”

Garnacho has scored twice and registered two assists for Chelsea since the former United player completed his stunning summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United’s improvement after 15 games
After 15 games in 2025/26, we can compare results to 15 games in 2024/25. This included a spell that saw Erik ten Hag sacked, Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim manager, and Ruben Amorim eventually hired as successor.

United have not been perfect this season, yet there is a notable difference.

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are 6th in the Premier League this season, compared to 13th the previous season.

United have won two more games, while scoring six more goals. The team’s defensive record is also better.

This leaves United six points better off, heading into a crucial stretch of the season.

Mason Mount can benefit from Bryan Mbeumo’s absence
Mount finds himself competing with United’s summer signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha for a starting spot as a No.10 in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Amorim has preferred to play Mount off the left of the front three, but that position has also been occupied by Cunha.

However, with Mbeumo set to leave for AFCON this month, it means there is space for both Cunha and Mount to start either side of a central striker.

Alternatively, both Cunha and Mount have played in false-nine positions this season through the middle.

Mount started centrally against Liverpool and was impressive as United won 2-1 at Anfield. Regardless of where he is played, Amorim must make sure he is in the line-up more often moving forward.

Ruben Amorim makes one major comparison between Mason Mount and Luke Shaw at Man Utd
Mason Mount is not the only one who is turning the heads of Red Devils supporters after the ex-Three Lions star recovered from an injury setback earlier this season.

Joining the former Chelsea star in experiencing a run of matches under United manager Ruben Amorim is Luke Shaw, who has become a key defensive option.

Amorim has turned to Luke Shaw as his main pick for the left-sided option in his three-man backline after Lisandro Martinez was injured in the 2024-25 season.

Shaw has impressed for the Red Devils this season and the 30-year-old United defender has started all 15 of his side’s Premier League matches so far.

Speaking after United’s 4-1 thrashing of Wolves on Monday, Amorim admitted that he is managing Mount’s minutes in the same way that he did for Shaw last season.

“Sometimes, it is a tactical issue when you play a striker and sometimes [Matheus] Cunha is going to that position,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“But sometimes it’s also we need to protect Mason Mount.

“We need to build the same thing that we did with Luke [Shaw] last year, we are doing the same with Mase and taking care of him.

JJ Gabriel’s numbers are remarkable
JJ Gabriel scored the winner with a perfectly placed side-footed shot into the bottom corner in Manchester United’s under-18s win over Peterborough.

United were the better team, but needed the moment of magic from JJ Gabriel to progress into the next round.

This goal continues his outstanding form this season. In 12 games for the under-18s, Gabriel has scored 11 goals. He has also added one assist.

Gabriel is putting up the kind of numbers for the under-18s that you might expect from an 18-year-old who is too physically dominant for the level.

He is dominating through pure skill and technical talent, at the age of 15.
Gabriel is now the youngest ever Manchester United scorer in the FA Youth Cup, breaking a record previously set by Omari Forson.

This was his FA Youth Cup debut, taking place at Old Trafford, and hopefully this is the first of many goals he scores at the stadium.

Manchester United have had to fend off interest in JJ Gabriel from Barcelona, amid the huge attention over his services. He has signed a pre-scholarship agreement with the club.

Gabriel has trained with the first team, although he is ineligible to play in the Premier League until next season. An FA Cup debut is technically possible.

Last week Gabriel was spotted with Sir Alex Ferguson, as United continue to roll out the red carpet for him.

Everything we have seen, as well as the numbers, all suggests that the hype is justified and Gabriel could be Manchester United and football’s next superstar.

Marco Reus would welcome Jadon Sancho at LA Galaxy
After 12 years at Borussia Dortmund, Marco Reus left Germany to sign for LA Galaxy.

Reus collected an MLS Cup in his first American season, helping his side to victory over the New York Red Bulls. It was the club’s first MLS Cup triumph since 2014.
After failing to achieve those heights this season, Reus has been asked which foreign players he would like to share the LA Galaxy dressing room with.

Reus selects Jadon Sancho as one of his three, who include Robert Lewandowski and Lucas Pizcheck. The German winger played with all three players during his time at Dortmund.

“Then I will bring Jadon Sancho,” Reus said on an official LA Galaxy podcast.

“He is a special guy. Most people don’t understand how good he is.”

Sancho, who has been on loan at Aston Villa, is expected to leave Old Trafford as a free agent at the end of the season.

That means LA Galaxy and other clubs will have the opportunity to approach Sancho. It would come down to whether any club is willing to meet his salary demands.

Sancho has not got the minutes that he might have hoped for in his loan at Villa.

Manchester United’s Premier League encounter against Wolves marked Matheus Cunha’s return to the Molineux for the first time since his exit from the club

Cunha was United’s first major summer signing ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, with the Red Devils triggering his hefty £62.5m release clause back in June.

The Brazil international impressed for Wolves in the 2024-25 season and Cunha netted 17 times and registered six assists in 36 matches across all competitions.

One X user, ‘Kev,’ on social media shared footage of Cunha acknowledging and waving at Wolves supporters after the full-time whistle in United’s 4-1 win.

Cunha is on the pitch alone at the Molineux and showed his classy support to fans of his former club before the ex-Wolves ace made his way off the Molineux pitch.

Benjamin Sesko could return sooner than expected
United welcomed Matheus Cunha’s return from injury this month after the Brazilian suffered a head injury that saw him miss two matches.

With Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo soon departing for AFCON, Amorim will be counting down the days until Benjamin Sesko returns to reinforce his attacking options.

Thankfully, it seems there is not much of a wait.

Via GiveMeSport, Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic revealed that the 22-year-old is on track to be back in action sooner than expected.

“Benjamin is feeling very well. His rehabilitation is progressing according to plan,” said Basanovic.

“It’s hard to say precisely when he will return. That will be up to the medical staff and the manager, but I think we’ll see him back on the pitch very soon. Maybe even sooner than expected.”

United face Bournemouth on Monday evening, and Sesko could potentially make his return at Old Trafford.
