๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, NIGERIA! ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

On October 1, 1960, Nigeria became independent from British colonial rule.
The Union Jack came down.
The Green-White-Green went up.
Nigerians took over the responsibility of governing Nigeria.
And today, 66 years later, we celebrate that historic freedom.

But I have a question for us this Independence Day:

ARE WE REALLY FREE?

Not politically.
Not as a debate.
Just as Nigerians reflecting honestly on our journey.
Because independence was never supposed to mean only โ€œthe British are no longer ruling us.โ€

Freedom is also about what we do with the responsibility that comes after freedom.

Can a Nigerian truly feel free when poverty determines what opportunities they can access?
Can we say we are completely free when fear sometimes determines where we can travel, work or live? Imagine the same country that colonised us are now denying us visas because of what I donโ€™t know yet๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Are we free when ethnicity, religion and tribe can sometimes become stronger than our identity as Nigerians?
Are we free when the person who should help another Nigerian may first ask, โ€œWhat will I gain?โ€

Are we free when corruption is condemned publicly but sometimes tolerated privately when it benefits us?
Are we free when we complain about bad leadership but sometimes celebrate the same behaviour when it comes from โ€œour ownโ€?

And perhaps the biggest question:

Did we gain independence from the British only to become prisoners of some of our own habits, divisions and systems? So perhaps Independence Day should not only be a day for flags, outfits, parties and โ€œNigeria will be great again.
๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ 66 years later, are we truly free?

I want to hear from you.

What is ONE thing you believe Nigerians must free themselves from before we can truly say we are free?

No insults. No political fights.
Just a genuine conversation.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

I started putting Aria on camera from her 5th day on earth.

I went through CS to give birth to her, and immediately after delivery, the moment I was opening my eyes, I handed my phone to my cousin and said, โ€œPlease, snap her.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚

On the 5th day, when we got home, I called to come photograph us at home. Two weeks later, I started documenting her growth on her own page.

But getting her to where she is today took a LOT of effort. I wanted her to become comfortable in front of the camera, and gradually, she did.

Today, Aria can face a camera and deliver her lines without being shy. She has even had the opportunity to shoot clips with some celebrities, and honestly, watching her confidence grow has been one of my proudest experiences as a mum. ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ

Iโ€™m not an actor, but my daughter is. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And I genuinely cannot wait to see where this talent takes her.

Hollywood someday? Netflix? A big movie role? ๐ŸŽฌ

Who knows?
All I know is that I canโ€™t wait for the world to see Aria perform. ๐ŸŒ

This is only the beginning, my girl. Keep shining. Mommy is watching. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ‘‘
