ONDO SECURITY ALERT: Armed bandits invaded the Igbosi area of Idogun in Ose LGA, Ondo State, in the early hours of Friday, destroying two buildings and abducting a nine-year-old boy identified as Oluwatobi, the son of a local pastor.
According to residents, the attackers stormed the community around 1:00–1:30 a.m., firing sporadically to scare people, forcing many to flee into nearby bushes and neighbouring communities for safety. During the invasion, two houses were destroyed before the child was taken away.
The victim’s father, Mr. Isaac Olaosebikan, reportedly escaped during the attack, leaving the boy behind in the chaos. Another resident also confirmed damage to property during the raid.
The Ondo State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Abayomi, confirmed the incident, stating that a full-scale manhunt and rescue operation is underway.
“The Ondo State Police Command has commenced an intensive manhunt for suspected kidnappers… Personnel of the command and Amotekun Corps have been mobilised to the scene to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend the perpetrators,” the statement said.
Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has ordered tactical teams and intelligence units to intensify efforts, while security agencies continue coordinated search operations.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with efforts focused on rescuing the abducted child safely and bringing the attackers to justice.
