Today, I want to talk about maintaining steeze and composure in the workplace.
Often times we've used maintaining steeze and composure to mean not being riled up or angry in the face of upsetting situations; even choosing to keep your cool regardless.
I want to say that this also applies to;
- not jumping on tasks that aren't in your job description (JD)
- only taking responsibility for your responsibility.
- not allowing yourself to be micromanaged in the name of guidance.
- politely saying no to your superior when you are required to carry out tasks at the detriment of your KPI
- Establishing boundaries because you can't get upset at someone for crossing a boundary that you didn't establish.
- taking note when you volunteer to take up more responsibilities. Even if there are witnesses, note them down.
- Asking questions when tasks outside your job role are pushed to you. Ask if there is compensation attached. If not, request a recommendation note for the task.
- not shying away from breaks. Your break period is yours, stop feeling guilty for taking a break.
- creating time to engage in comfortable conversations with co-workers and superiors. Don't be afraid of backing down from uncomfortable conversations in your workplace.
So, tell me... How are you maintaining steeze and keeping composure in your workplace today?
