MUSIC DEALS FOR UPCOMING ARTISTS (1)
I’ve seen artist say “I need a studio to create my music” “I need a record deal” “How can I record my songs with my phone” “How can I promote my music online” I want to shoot a music video” “How can I get signed”? Etc. All these hurdles are covered by different deals; even record labels run these jobs by deals. E.g. the mavens… I’ve outlined various types of deals upcoming artist would need with their explanations in the next post but first, understand this:- It’s just lack of exposure to the real world of music business that makes you think just because you can sing you will get signed, the truth is it is very rare (almost impossible) for labels to just pick artist with little or no professionally recorded tracks. Record songs, just keep recording more songs. Because what’s so good to you is just average to a pride infested A&R Every up-n-coming artist should have at least a little bit of fan base on all social media platforms and considering the rate of digitalized music, up-n-coming artist must be able to have a few listeners on a streaming platform. Pay to get extra publicity if you can. Believe it or not just as “Heaven help those who help themselves” Record labels only help artists that have been working hard on their own. Don’t expect that someone will invest in your music if you yourself can’t invest your money and time in your music, if you don’t have the money let your family support you, if your family can’t support you go to those that will. Don’t get me wrong miracles do happen (rarely) but remember that you can’t keep praying to become a millionaire and sit and do nothing. So start thinking more on how you are going to invest in your music today. Don’t look for free online promotion unless it is verified, take that long professional way. In a nutshell, BLOW YOURSELF IN YOUR OWN LITTLE WAY
