The oil was already too hot, but I still had to confirm it again with my finger.

Please don’t try this at home. We are created differently. 🤣

Thankfully, the buns came out perfect.

POP CORN MAKING HAS HUMBLED ME AGAIN…FOR THE SECOND TIME! I GIVE YOU!

This is my second attempt at making popcorn, and honestly, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

The first one was without sugar. It failed.
This second one was with sugar. It still failed. 😭

I even recorded every step, hoping to share a popcorn tutorial with you all. Little did I know that today, you people would be the ones teaching me. 😂 Life no balance at all!

To make matters worse, this one came out slightly bitter, and I ended up throwing half of it away. At this point, I’m beginning to think popcorn making is not for everybody… and maybe I’m part of that “everybody.” 🤣

The funny thing is that my children are happily eating it and even asking for more. At the same time, they’re firing me with plenty questions that I don’t have answers to. 😅

I simply told them, that it’s called caramelized popcorn. After all, every day is not Christmas.” 😂

Meanwhile, I can bake cakes, make banana bread, cook meals, prepare snacks, make yogurt and handle all sorts of kitchen projects, but popcorn has decided to be my greatest challenge.

Abeg, who has ever been humbled by a recipe that looked so simple?

Please tell me I’m not alone. And if you’re a popcorn expert, kindly gather here and teach your sister before attempt number three ends in premium tears. 😂

😂

This is how my grandmother made abacha when there was no time to fry anything we call it Kpamkwom. ❤️ if you know, you know!

Back in the day, whenever there wasn’t enough time to go through the usual process of frying ingredients, Grandma would prepare abacha this way. Quick, simple, and still incredibly delicious.

This is one of the easiest ways to enjoy freshly processed traditional abacha without spending too much time in the kitchen. Just a few ingredients, a little mixing, and food is ready! 😋

Every time I make it, it brings back memories of sitting with my grandmother, watching her effortlessly turn simple ingredients into something so satisfying.

If you want to see how I processed the abacha from scratch, check out my previous post. 🥰

Have you ever eaten Kpamkwom before, or is this your first time hearing about it?

Smart kitchen hack!

Stop throwing away your overripe plantain!

Marry them together and you will be glad you did..

Just add it to your porridge yam. It melts right in, thickens the dish naturally, and gives it a rich, slightly sweet taste.

Follow the picture steps to see how I turned overripe plantain into the perfect thickener for my porridge yam. Nothing goes to waste in my kitchen!

Your kids will love it

School Lunch Just Got Better! 😍

Hot akara paired with soft bread for school lunch. Too much enjoyment during lunch break! 😋

Honestly, this generation of children are the real enjoyment ministers. 😂

The good thing about making this akara early in the morning is that I already had enough blended beans stored in the freezer. It comes in handy for emergency cooking—whether it’s akara or moi moi, as the spirit leads. 😄

That little preparation saves me so much time and stress, especially on busy school mornings.

The joy dance and excitement when they saw what was in their lunch box? No be here! ❤️

For me, that’s what matters most—happy children enjoying homemade food made with love.

Growing up, we carried simple food to school and thought nothing of it. These days, our children inspect lunch boxes like food critics and celebrate good food like they’ve won an award. 😂

Would your kids enjoy akara and bread for school lunch? 😊
