“Your Papa No Try” – Eedris Abdulkareem Slams Seyi Tinubu in New Protest Song
Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has released a powerful new protest track titled “Tell Your Papa,” taking direct aim at Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The song, which premiered on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, serves as a musical critique of the current state of the nation. Abdulkareem calls on Seyi to deliver a hard truth to his father—the country is in crisis.
“Seyi, tell your papa country hard.
Tell your papa people dey die.
Tell your papa this one don pass jagajaga.”
The track comes shortly after Seyi Tinubu’s controversial comments in Adamawa State, where he described President Tinubu as “the greatest president in Nigeria’s history.”
Eedris fires back with biting lyrics that reflect widespread public frustration:
“Seyi, how far? I swear your papa no try.
Too much empty promises. On behalf of Nigerians, take our message to him; kidnappers dey kill Nigerians.”
The artist also challenges Seyi to experience life like everyday Nigerians:
“Try travel by road without your security, make you feel the pains of fellow Nigerians. You dey fly private jets, insecurity no be your problem.”
With soaring inflation, worsening insecurity, and growing discontent, Abdulkareem’s song has quickly resonated with citizens who feel unheard. “Tell Your Papa” blends hard truths with hard-hitting beats, keeping Eedris’s legacy of political activism through music very much alive.

2Face Idibia Jokes About ‘Kidnapping’ Rumor: “I’m Raising Ransom for My Release”
Lagos, Nigeria — Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face (2Baba), has finally responded—albeit sarcastically—to recent viral claims made by his mother suggesting he had been kidnapped and was missing.
The rumors, which surfaced during ongoing speculation around the singer’s marital issues, caused widespread concern among fans and followers. In a video that made rounds on social media, a woman identified as 2Face’s mother expressed worry over his alleged disappearance.
However, the music icon addressed the controversy publicly during a recent performance at a comedy event hosted by comedian Acapella, bringing a humorous spin to the situation.
“Allegedly, I have been missing. Allegedly, I have been kidnapped,” 2Face quipped on stage.
“So this show is actually to raise ransom for my kidnappers to release me.”
The audience erupted in laughter, appreciating the artist’s witty take on what had become a trending topic online. His statement served both as a denial of the claims and a lighthearted way to diffuse the tension surrounding the matter.
Public Sightings Confirm He’s Safe
Contrary to the rumors, 2Face has been spotted publicly multiple times, attending events and making appearances, effectively dismissing concerns about his wellbeing.
Still in the Spotlight
Despite the swirling speculations about his personal life, the award-winning artist continues to remain relevant, making headlines for both his performances and his ability to remain unbothered in the face of controversy.
Abonima Media will continue to monitor the unfolding narrative around 2Face and bring you verified updates from Nigeria’s entertainment scene.

WTO Cautions Against U.S. Tariffs, Warns of Global Trade Decline

Abonima Media Blog – April 5, 2025

The Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has issued a stern warning that recent tariff hikes by the United States could significantly hinder global trade and economic growth.

This follows an announcement on April 2 by U.S. President Donald Trump of sweeping tariffs on all imports, including a 14% levy on Nigerian goods. The move has sparked concerns across the international trade community.

In a statement released on Thursday, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala revealed that the WTO is actively monitoring the developments and is in dialogue with member nations over the possible economic fallout. She stressed that numerous WTO members have voiced their concerns, prompting the organization to take steps to address the issue.

“These new tariffs, alongside other trade restrictions introduced earlier this year, could lead to a 1% decline in global merchandise trade volumes — a sharp drop from our earlier projections, which anticipated stronger growth,” Okonjo-Iweala explained.

She further warned of the risks of escalating trade tensions, which could trigger retaliatory measures from affected countries and deepen the downturn in global commerce.

Despite the setbacks, she noted that the bulk of international trade still functions under the WTO’s Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) terms. However, that share has fallen from 80% at the beginning of the year to 74% due to the recent protectionist measures.

“It is crucial that WTO members come together and act responsibly to prevent this situation from spiraling into a full-blown trade conflict,” she urged.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala reiterated the WTO’s role as a neutral platform for dialogue, aimed at preventing disputes and promoting a stable and open global trading environment.

“As global economic uncertainties grow, the WTO remains committed to upholding the rules-based system and supporting cooperation among nations. We were built for times like these,” she concluded.
