Why Brands Should Mind The Gap Between Identity And Image

On this Chioma Egodi Jnr saga with a tomato paste company, I think that it’s just a storm in a tea cup.

Brands should always do the right thing if they don’t want to attract critical brand, product and service reviews especially in this social media era.

The tomato paste brand in question may have missed a massive opportunity to convert a customer who has spent her money trialing their product. What the brand should have done is invite Chioma Egodi Jnr and give her a factory tour and opportunity for product tasting. Possibly make her a brand ambassador to milk the feel-good factor. That would have been a good opportunity to convert a brand doubter to a brand believer and brand disciple.

The tomato paste brand bungled a huge opportunity to plant brand love-marks on Chioma. Having her arrested for criticizing the brand has cost them a lot of brand mileage and equity.

Oftentimes brands fall into this ‘all knowing’ brand trap. They start to believe their own hype while reality may tell a different story. There is usually a huge difference between what some brands try to communicate through their branding and communication efforts, and what the customers actually perceive of the brand through experiencing the brand and through other means.

There is a big difference between brand identity (what the brand tries to communicate through its branding efforts), and brand image (what the customer perceives of the brand). This is why every brand should regularly conduct surveys to ascertain where their brands ‘reside’ in the perceptual maps and minds of the customers. Brands can then work hard at closing any brand perceptual gaps identified, if any.

As you climb the ladder up many people don't even see you as a human being rather you're a tool to be used because of some selfish prospect they see in you.99% truly don't care about you,they just feign kindness.

*Check the uniforms- create time this weekend to check if anything needs to be fixed.the button,tears and if it still fits.Do they need new uniforms it's good time to make that decision 😁
*Get school supplies- crayons, pencils, Biro,books,rulers, erasers,gum, cardboard and so on
*Personal grooming-haircut for boys, hairstyle for girls and get them ready for school.. Shalom🥰
