THE MIRROR FRUIT OF OBORO-BUSH! 🐒🥭
What’s REAL beauty? The Monkey Who Found the Truth!
Hey story-lovers! Come with me to Oboro-Bush, the wildest, most mysterious thicket in all the Niger Delta—where even the trees have secrets and the river hums old songs.
In Oboro-Bush, lived Bina, the queen of all monkeys. Bina had a sparkle in her eye, a bounce in her step, and—let’s be honest—a real thing for her own reflection! While her friends played and munched on mangoes, Bina was by the river, snapping mental selfies and loving every glint of sun on her fur.
But one day, Oboro River stilled, and Bina saw a face in the water—smoother, brighter, and dazzling, like she’d been airbrushed by the ancestors! She reached out… splash! Just ripples. Not one to give up, Bina tracked that shimmer upstream, swinging through vines until—boom!—she found a silver-barked tree bearing round, shining fruit, glowing like mini-moons. One fruit had split open. Inside? A perfect, mirror-like surface.
Bina gasped. “This fruit makes me look AMAZING!” She hoarded the mirror fruit, sneaking glances all day. She stopped eating, laughing, even hanging out with her troop. Her world shrank to just her and her perfect image. Soon, her sparkle faded. Even her famous giggle was gone.
When her troop called, she turned away. “I’m not like you anymore. I’ve seen what I should be.” Poor Bina. Alone, thin, clutching her magic fruit—missing out on all the wild fun. That’s when old Grandma Pangolin shuffled over, scales worn by many seasons. She saw Bina, sighed, and said, “Child, why do you hide here?”
Bina told her about the fruit and the beautiful reflection she’d lost. Grandma Pangolin held up the fruit. “Look again, but see with your heart.”
Bina did. Now she saw tired eyes, skinny arms, but also hope, courage, and a spirit that just wanted to belong.
“The fruit only shows the outside,” Grandma Pangolin said gently. “Real beauty is in the laughter you share, the kindness you give, and the life you live!”
Bina laughed—a little at first, then a lot! She let the fruit drift away on the river and raced back to her troop.
Her friends? They cheered and hugged her. They shared bananas and monkey-muffins. And this time, when Bina glimpsed her reflection in the river, she saw just Bina—imperfect, playful, alive, and loved.
And that was more than enough.
✨ Moral of the Story:
True beauty isn’t what you see in the mirror or on your phone—it’s the joy, courage, and kindness you show every day. Shine as YOU are!
