Rich States, Broke People 📊 🇳🇬

In this opinion, PBA publisher Marcel Mbamalu challenges the viral claim that "10 Nigerian states are richer than countries," arguing that GDP measures economic activity in a place - not prosperity for the people who live there.

Lagos may outproduce Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda and Mauritius combined, but its citizens are still cooking with firewood.

Nigeria's external reserves have climbed to $52.83bn - the highest level in 17 years - after growing 15.94% in eight months.
