Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has knocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government for destroying the affairs of the country.

Mohammed made the remarks on Thursday February 17, during the inauguration of the 5.25kilometres Gedu-Oroki-Sabo-Ashipa road, Oyo, Oyo State.

According to the Governor, Nigerians are suffering exclusion while ''tribalism, sectionalism, regionalism, religious bigotry and selfishness among the leadership reigned supreme in the country.''

"You have seen what the APC has done, they have destroyed everywhere. There is no security anywhere; Nigeria has become the poverty capital of the world. Our people are divided because of sentiments, because of exclusion. People are distraught and disillusioned,” Mohammed said.

As compared to the APC, Mohammed said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now boasted of new leaders who are “putting aside tribalism, sectionalism, regionalism and religious bigotry to bring people to the fore who can conquer the environment; who know what they are doing; who are not hungry for money; who are not coming to take your resources and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and put it in their pockets; who are ready to open new frontiers; develop new synergies; deepen stakeholding,"

Mohammed said Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State typified excellence in leadership, has become a reference point for governors which the PDP is proud of.

He added that Makinde had shown that he came into governance with a plan and had continued to use available resources to improve the quality of life of the people.

The Pentagon has announced that Russia has lost an estimate of 7000 soldiers with 21000 wounded ever since it began it's invasion of Ukraine three weeks ago.

According to the Pentagon, this means that a fifth of the force president Vladimir Putin amassed before the war could now be out of action, as units become 'combat ineffective' .

This comes as British intelligence on Thursday, March 17 said that the Russian advance has now stalled 'on all fronts' with 'heavy casualties' being suffered .

Putin amassed 150,000 soldiers on it's border with Ukraine before giving the order to attack 21 days ago.

The staggering death and injury toll is roughly double NATO losses in Afghanistan over two decades of fighting, and roughly equal to US casualties in the 36-day battle of Iwo Jima - one of the bloodiest clashes in the Pacific during the Second World War.

The Pentagon believes that losses are now so severe, US intelligence believes some Russian units cannot keep fighting.

According to a report by British intelligence on Thursday, m Russia's invasion has stalled 'on all fronts' with 'minimal progress on land, sea or air' in the last 24 hours while continuing to 'suffer heavy losses'.

But the bombardment of Ukrainian cities continues never-the-less, with Kyiv struck by missiles in the early hours - one of which was shot down, though wreckage still struck a 16-storey apartment block, killing one person and sparking fires which injured dozens of others.

Mariupol, the heavily besieged city in the south of Ukraine, also continued to come under heavy fire as city officials estimated that at least 2,400 people have now been killed there - though mayoral adviser Petro Andriushchenko said the true toll could be as high as 20,000 once cut-off areas have been searched for victims.

Operatives of Delta State Police Command have arrested a 42-year-old man, Mr. Efe Erinoja, for allegedly beating his wife to d€ath.

Efe Erinoja is said to have beaten Faith Ekpe, 36, yesterday, March 16, in their residential apartment in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government area of Delta state.

The couple was involved in a domestic dispute when Efe allegedly k*lled his wife at about 6:30am.

He then fled his home to avoid being attacked by angry locals.

According to a local source, neighbours heard the shrill voice of Faith Ekpe but when they arrived at the scene, she was already d3ad.

The fleeing husband was tracked and arrested following a report made at Orerokpe Police Station by the brother of the deceased, Monday Otobrise Ekpe, who led detectives to the scene.

Security sources said: "When the Police detectives arrived the scene, they found the co**se of Faith Ekpe on the ground with signs of violence on her body.

"The Police removed the body and deposited at Ariemughere mortuary, Orerokpe awaiting autopsy. The suspect who initially took to flight was tracked and later arrested."

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) confirmed the incident and said investigations have commenced into the cause of the dispute between the couple.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has confirmed the removal of electricity subsidies by the federal government.

Sanusi Garba, NERC chairman in his speech on Wednesday March 16, said the commission played a role in ensuring that tariff rates were regulated.

Garba who revealed that adjustment was made in February following underlying economic considerations, added that tariff adjustment was straightforward and distribution companies are expected to inform their customers of the changes.

He said “Now subsidy is a policy issue determined by the government. The government will decide that the rates calculated or agreed by the regulator may at this time not be passed on to consumers. It has happened many times.

“In the past four, five years the level of subsidy has gradually been reduced, because you cannot run the electricity market on life support and say that investors cannot get their return on investment until government steps in to provide the required funding.
