According to a report by Vanguard on the 1st of August, 2025, David Moses, the school security guard arrested over the murder of a 14-month-old pupil and a nurse at Clear Hope Foundation Academy in Dawaki, Abuja, has confessed to the crime while expressing regret and disbelief at his own actions. Speaking to newsmen after his arrest, Moses claimed this was his first involvement in such a heinous act.
“The truth is I have never killed or kidnapped before. I have never done such a thing,” Moses said. “This was the first time someone pushed me into any evil act,” he added, suggesting he was manipulated by his now-fugitive accomplice, Sunday.
Pressed about his relationship with the murdered nurse, Moses described her as kind-hearted and generous. “There’s no relationship. The woman has been nice to me. In fact, that very day, she gave me ₦300 to buy food. She had been giving me money to eat even before then,” he said, visibly shaken by the memory.
The contrast between the suspect’s confession and the nurse’s reported kindness has intensified public anger and confusion over how such a crime could have occurred. Many have questioned how someone entrusted with children’s safety could turn around to commit such an act, especially against someone who had shown him compassion.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down the second suspect, Sunday, who remains on the run. The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities say more arrests could follow as new details emerge..
