The Homework Emergency 😂📚
One evening, Dad walked into the living room and found Matifa and Luke sitting quietly at the table.
He smiled.
“Wow! My children are doing their homework without anybody telling them?”
Matifa nodded seriously.
“Yes, Daddy.”
Dad became suspicious.
“Where’s Luke?”
Matifa pointed under the table.
Dad looked down.
Luke was hiding underneath it with a pencil in his hand.
“Luke! What are you doing under there?”
Luke answered confidently,
“I’m looking for the answer.”
Dad frowned.
“The answer to what?”
Luke pointed at his mathematics book.
“The answer to why I don’t understand mathematics.” 😂
Dad pulled him out.
“Come and sit down. Let me help you.”
Dad looked at the question.
“Luke, if you have five oranges and I give you three more, how many oranges do you have?”
Luke immediately answered,
“Eight.”
Dad smiled.
“Correct! Now if I take away two…”
Luke quickly interrupted.
“Daddy, please don’t take my oranges.”
Dad laughed.
“I’m talking about mathematics!”
Luke shook his head.
“That’s how it starts. First you take two oranges. Next thing, there is nothing left.” 😂
Matifa burst out laughing.
Dad sighed.
“Okay, Matifa. Your turn.”
He gave her another question.
“If you have ten sweets and give Luke four, how many do you have left?”
Matifa looked at Luke.
Then she looked at Dad.
“Ten.”
Dad frowned.
“Why ten?”
“Because Luke is not getting any of mine.” 😂😂
Luke jumped up.
“That’s cheating!”
Matifa hugged her sweets.
“It’s called protecting my investment!”
Dad covered his face.
At that point, he realized something very important…
He didn’t come home to teach mathematics.
He came home to negotiate with two tiny lawyers! 😂
